Alamy's new dashboard has a section under the graph titled "Additional Revenue Options". Click on the arrow on the right and you'll see your opt in/out status for Distribution, Novel Use and the UK Newspaper scheme.

Mine says I'm opted in for Distribution (I opted out in 2013) and out for the other two. I have e-mail from support confirming my opt out.

In addition to the wrong status for Distribution deals, I checked to see what this said because I had a Novel Use sale last week. In the sales report it says the License is "Novel Use" and the Details "Novel Use Scheme2"

I've written to support, but perhaps it's worth other people checking to be sure they have the correct status on their accounts - possibly with the recent UI changes they've messed something up.

Part of me is mentally wandering around the issue and contemplating how mad I'd be if I found out that opting out of Novel Use didn't cover Novel Use Scheme2 - a bit like Deposit Photos claiming that Reseller API wasn't the same thing as partnership and that opting out of the latter had nothing to do with the former. I'll post when I get an answer from support.

Thanks, Jo Ann. Mine are as I set them, but it's always worth checking.

I think you can only opt at certain times, like the first of the month or something like that.

You can only opt out of NU in April and I keep forgetting.

I opted out of NU in April but had 8 NU sales in May. There is a thread on the Alamy forum about a sudden spate of NU sales and some speculation about them being old sales finally being recorded.

My settings look as expected.

If I got an old NU sale it's over a year old. That's bad even for Alamy. The distribution setting still needs to be fixed

I believe all opt outs are only in April

Good that i see this thread. I just got 2 Novel use sales reported yesterday  and I have opted out last year April (more than one year now). So i checked the status, and it was correct, i was opted out. The only thing i could think of is that these sales take more than a year to be reported? maybe not too unusual  with Alamy?

I've noticed I have green IN in Distribution section right after new dashboard came. Weird - I opted out in last April. Now waiting for clarify from Alamy.

what it so special about April? doesn't make any sense, I believe we should opt in or out anytime!

Yes, it is a little absurd, I really don't see the reason too.

How it works

You can Opt-in at any time
Once signed up your images remain in the scheme, but you can opt out each April.
You receive 50% of Novel Use sales.
Your normal termination rights of 45 days are not affected.

"Our technical team has resolved the issue. The status in your distribution link is now updated as opted out."

I really love the fast and effective contact with Alamy! Others should learn.

And about more money from "Novel Use Scheme2" that's very nice what they decided to do. Just ask them yourself (I'm not sure it's public info). Just one more time - others should learn.

They have sort-of fixed my status for distribution sales - it says I opted out with a date of when I first joined (2007). I opted out last April, but I don't think the date of the opt out matters as long as they don't go back and undo all my prior distributor sales :)

And the Novel Use sale was for something a long time ago - they had a customer who didn't use up their limit of images and so they distributed the extra across all the contributors whose images the customer had licensed. Very fair and ethical choice - and unfortunately a rare thing to see from an agency these days.

I'd love to have Alamy's ethics and Shutterstock's volume :)

I've opted out in April 2013 and got the "Novel use" sale dated May 28,2014

That's also what they do with their subscriptions (that may only refer to the UK newspaper scheme, but I don't know).
It's also supposed to be what iS do with their credit subscriptions, and once I hit the jackpot (relatively speaking!)

I got one Novel Use Scheme 2 sale in May that was over $52.00, so I'm glad I've stayed opted in.
