Title: Getting Paid
Post by: strikerx98 on April 06, 2012, 20:04
Hi all.  I have had one sale at Alamy and it was a year ago this month.  It was a nice size sale, but my profit was under the $175 payout.  I thought just maybe I could pay a processing fee to finally after a year get a payout.  No luck.  The person / persons I've been e-mailing with have given me brief answers that are basically that I'm out of luck.  I've been told to submit more images so I can make more sales.  Period!  I even checked the contract to see if I terminated my contract with them if I would get a final payout and I couldn't find anything regarding that.

It's so frustrating knowing I have over $100 hat's been sitting out there earning interest for another company which they already made a chunk of change on and I can't touch it!

Anyone have any info on what I could do?

Thanks bunches,
Connie

The Alamy payout was $250 and is now $150. Payments occur automatically at the end of the month when your balance is over $150.
These are the terms we agreed to when we signed up, so there's unlikely there's anything you can do.
I don't know what happens if you quit your account: there's a 6 month tie in for your images anyway, so you can't just quit in a moment. (That's in our contract too.)

Deja Vu, didn't I read this same message just a few minutes ago, somewhere else?

It's $175.  But whatever.

If you have $175 in your cleared balance, you should get a payout.

Added: to be more helpful, this is what the last three lines of my current balance of account looks like:
Balance carried forward:    $364.73
Cleared balance:            $104.41
Next payment date:    Not due

i.e. I have £260.32 of uncleared sales, and need $45.51 from that to 'clear' before I will get paid, at the beginning of the next month after I reach $150 cleared.

What do the bottom three lines in your balance say?

If you have $175 in your cleared balance, what exactly did their support tell you, if there is no 'next payment date' due?

Sometimes payments take a long time to get through to Alamy, (which is why your 'balance carried forward' is usually higher than your 'cleared' balance). I usually find a nice note to Support after about six (for direct sales) -nine (for 'agency' sales) months does the trick.

Submit more photos in order to increase your chances for new sales.
In average, there is one sale monthly every 1,000 images.

I have a $163 cleared balance this month  ;D

If you leave the agency, they will pay you out once your balance is cleared.  The best strategy is to upload more images and continue to contribute.
