Title: Image management v2.0 [Alamy News]
Post by: leaf on April 28, 2009, 06:03
This came in an email from Alamy

Quote
We are pleased to inform you that you can now use the latest version of our new image annotation tool, Manage Images v2.0. You can access this via the link within "My Alamy".

*  To work on an individual image, simply double click an image to view and edit the details

Manage Images v2.0 also adds a wealth of new features including:

* The ability to apply attributes, keywords, captions and restrictions to your images in batches

* Options to search your images by category, filename or keyword

Manage Images v2.0 is still in the beta stage, meaning there are a few features not yet available, including:

* The ability to create new pseudonyms (you can still do this in the current 'Manage images' however)

* The ability to add/remove single words to/from existing data when working in batch edit mode

Additional features like those above will be included in future releases.

We'd like to remind you that the tool is live so please be careful, especially in batch edit mode, as any changes made will be applied to your images. You can also still use the old Manage Images tool if you would prefer.

Please do not send us written feedback via email at this stage.

If you face any major issues whilst using the tool, please inform us by emailing [email protected]

We hope you find Manage Images v2.0 useful.

Kind regards,

The Content Team

I trialled this new batch editor a few weeks ago, and I have to admit I liked it a lot :-)

Paula,
I am just back from viewing your website.  WOW!!  You've got some lovely picture.

Thank your for sharing your work, and also for sharing your experiences with Cushy Stock.  If it only included a spell checker I'd be all over it.

I tried it as well, when they introduced beta. I really like it. It's pretty intuitive.

Yep just tried it - works very well - should save me heaps of time. Its very reminiscent of Flickr editing. Just in time for a big batch of photos I was dreading entering data for.

On another note, I've been trying the OSX version of deepmeta - can't wait for the final version, but what's there now is worth using for anyone who wants to edit descriptions etc... its really very good. Now I see what we've been missing all this time!

Yes, I had the same email from Alamy. I tried it, and I sent them my opinion as they asked. I like it, it's intuitive and nice.

Whitechild, I thought they said : Please do NOT send us written feedback via email at this stage.  ???

After the submission, they sent me an email again asking about my opinion. I think I filled some short survey actually...

batman, before introducing it to all contributors, they did it for some a month earlier, asking for feedback:
"We're interested in your feedback, so you will shortly receive another e-mail, asking you to participate in a questionnaire about the new tool."

The main thing I'd like is just one tickbox to mark an image as 'editorial' instead of having to 'disallow' several other options. I'm all for cutting confusion, and I wonder how often one or more of the commercial usages is deselected separately from the other, while others are allowed?

Is there any reason why this would be a bad idea?

It's the first time I use the new system, but my keywords and description weren't read from the IPTC data.  Are you having that problem?

Used it yesterday . . .  all IPTC data except Description came up so I reverted back to the older page.  Quess there is stil a few kinks to be ironed out.

It works pretty well for me.

Now, let's see if it can help me generate some sales... :-[

Hmm, maybe it's because I selected two images to edit together?  Descriptions and titles were the same, and keywords were the same except for one.
