Title: Is Anyone Else Excluded from the New Forum?
Post by: Ed on May 14, 2013, 17:59
I'm getting frustrated with this.  Alamy launched a new forum.  I try to log in and I get the following error:

Quote
Fatal error: Call to a member function fetchMemberData() on a non-object in /home/alamyinv/public_html/admin/sources/classes/class_localization.php on line 128

I've brought this to the attention of Member Services four times - I've mentioned to them that this is not exclusive to one computer (I've tried it on three) and it's not exclusive to browser type (I've tried Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox) and I keep getting dismissed like an idiot and being told to clear my cache.

Is anyone else having the same issue?  I can't be the only member this is an issue with.

No problems for me.

No problems here either - and I guess that's not very helpful (I'm running OSX 10.8.3 on an old MacBook Pro, using Firefox).  Perhaps you have a geeky friend or relative who might enjoy a challenge like this?  It sounds like a software compatibility issue..

Ths is a wild stab at an answer but try changing your dns server settings. Possibly yours have not updated since the new forum was launched and you are being sent to old code.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are the Google ones.

Another thought - if you have an iPad or an iPhone (or equivalent), enable wifi on that device, connect to the internet through your home wifi/internet connection, and see if you get access that way.  If you do, it means that the problem is on your side of the wifi router or internet connection, and that might help you figure out exactly what the problem is.  If you don't, the next test would be to take one of your computers (a small one) and iPad/iPhone to someone else' internet connection (I hear you have lots of Starbucks...).  If you can connect through a borrowed internet connection, the problem is probably in your internet connection...

Thanks for the suggestion.  I flushed my DNS and that did not work.

I did a Google search on the error and found a Google cached message from the old forum where Clarence Holmes had the same issue (based in NY)

That answers my question - it's not just me and the issue isn't based on computers or browsers I've tried on.
