Hi there,

I upload to SS, AS, and Pond5 regularly. I'm considering uploading to iStock, which I mentioned in a separate thread.

I'm also curious about Alamy and would love to hear from experienced video stock contributors.

Thanks,

Daniel

I used to be an iStock video Exclusive. I am currently uploading there again, but as a non-exclusive. Stills are a better bet than videos on iStock/ Getty. Their video pricing is extremely low (eg. you will get sales for $0.02) and I don't agree with their policy of all file sizes being the same price, because my 4K animations require a lot more time than HD. So I downsize and only submit HD to them. If people want my 4K videos I hope they will find them elsewhere.

ETA sorry I replied to you on your Alamy thread, but I have pasted my response to your iStock thread.

Alamy has an arrangement with Pond5, which is where the videos you see on Alamy, originate. They are not accepting videos directly yet.

Right that make sense now.

Do you know which other stock agency does pond5 uploads videos to?

In the past 2-3 years Alamy has told it's own contributors at least twice that Alamy planned to soon open video footage submissions to them.  Hasn't happened yet.

In that time they've added video from PA Media Alamy's parent organization and just recently they've partnered with and added 14m clips from depositphotos.  These are in addition to the Pond5 footage.

I guess they don't want to add the workload of QC checking their own contributor's video submissions to their photo submissions QC overhead.
