Hi

I am new to Alamy, but as I understood it, QC takes about 37 hours (or that is what was stated when I submitted my images). My first 6 batches where processed quite fast (2 days), but I now have some that is going over 5 days now. Does this happen / Is this normal / Am I understanding the process time incorrectly?

It may be that your current batch has an image which has been rejected. The way their system works is that if one image in a batch fails, they all fail, and you don't get the notice for a week. I guess it's their version of tough love.
If it's any consolation, I've presumably got a rejection too, as I've had five pics in the queue since last weekend.
(Oh, should have said, Alamy don't inspect over the w/e.)
I think there has been a time or two when it's taken about a week then got an acceptance, but I know someone who had images pass through this week in the usual time, so don't get your hopes up.

I was used to almost overnight turn around, then a spot check failed one photo.

I am used to 7 day turnaround if there is a failure.

Is there something unusual going on now, however. I have two uploads of 2 photos each that I have carefully reviewed and submitted. I submitted them on 8 March which is almost two weeks.

It was mentioned in at least two threads on their forums this week that it can be a fortnight now that rejections are 'held up'.

Don't wait for an email, as stated that takes an extra day or two.  Just go to My Alamy - Track submissions (every hour or so) to get your results.  :)

Actually, the last two emails I've got have bundled several batch results over several weeks. The first time it was at least a month, and I thought they'd given up sending emails.
I'm sure they don't do QC at weekends, so relax until Monday.

It depends on how many rejects you have had and how many pictures you have. How many accepted pictures do you have on them now 56 or more.

I've experienced delays when the batch ended up with 'partially failed' status. In every case this happened, it was because of 'file processing error' in one of the files in the batch. Which I assume means some type of technical problem with the file itself (rather than the photo content of it). I also assume that in this case the batch goes to some other queue.

Yes, that's maddening when your batch was held up for something which wasn't even your fault.

Been having the same problem with batches partially failing.  Have a feeling that this next batch of 10 I uploaded is going to have issues as well.  We'll see tomorrow if it gets out of the 24 hour processing thing and goes to Awaiting QC.  I've got 50 left to upload from my port which, at this rate with the fails, is probably going to take me another 2 months to get done.  Wonder what the problem is.

Don't they give you a reason for the rejection?

A 'partial rejection' means something has gone wrong technically with the upload. Usually most of the batch goes through, but one file doesn't. IME, it goes through fine when resubmitted.

I had a rejected batch the other day. One photo had a reason. I deleted that photo then uploaded again and it went through fine in about a day.
