Hi, how are you guys?.. I have been looking but haven't found anything regarding preparing the photos with GIMP.. any guide?

1. Colors - Use GEGL
2. Image - Scale Image ...
3. set long site to 5100px
4. set resolution to 300px
5. set Quality Interpolation to Sinc (Lanczos3)

If the image is still to small then increasing it by another 100-200px does the trick.
