Just wondering how you lot are going.

I saw a thread on another site where a guy had sold 60 odd images.

It is 280 subscription sales on micro.. :)
Sharpshot, are you selling on Alamy a different content than on micro? Or the same images only in biggest sizes?

I began a few weeks ago, have about 50 images on Alamy. 140 views, one zoom and no sales yet. Looking ahead, building portfolio..

6 sales in May for me (BME), 4 RF an 2 RM, ranging from $65 to $350.  I have 285 pictures with them.  It took a while by now I'm getting consistent sales every month.

Last month Alamy was 60% of my total stock photo income.  I hope the same trend will continue in June :)

I started with Alamy on June 2006.
Had my first sale on December 2006.

Then had a couple of sales every other month or so.

Since October 2007 I had at least one sale every month.

you can sell RM anywhere as long as it is RM everywhere (cant sell an image as RF in one place and RM elsewhere) and each place is not exclusive.  If one site sells an geographically exclusive licence (ie exclusive use in USA for 3 years) then you will have to inform other places you are selling image through that it is not available in that location.

Yes, photoshelter and Alamy are both non-exclusive.  Like Phil said just make sure to sell a RM pictures everywhere, and not RM on one site and RF on the other site...

I am selling different images.  I don't like the thought of losing a big sale because the buyer finds the same image on one of the micros and then doesn't go back to my portfolio on alamy.  I might change my mind in the future but I am going to try and keep them separate.

The one I sold was an ordinary landscape that probably wouldn't make $10 on the micros.

I sold one RF image when I only had 8 in my portfolio. Sold for $420 of which I got $233.

No sales for me there yet.  Been there for over a year.  Currently 298 images on-line (some recent uploads). Measure: 5,794 views; 46 zooms

I must be doing something wrong...

In fact, I have been considering pulling all my RM images and making the RF - obviously, I'll have to wait for the 3 or 6 months for them to come off the RM sites before I can submit them as RF.  Just mulling...

The day after I posted the message before this one.  Guess what?  I had a sale at Alamy!! :o

Woohoo!

It was an RF sale for $85 of which I get $55.25.  Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish.  ;D

At last yesterday got my first sale with $85 commissions.

Interesting that this sold illustration had no zooms. It denies theory that without zooms can not be sales, like I red in Alamy forums.
In fact on search results page customer can add image to cart and can buy it without zoom.

I began upload 5 weeks ago and now have ~300 online with them.

This is not a micro site so Alamy work differently and have thier own research request team that will do a search for a customers requirements, and present the customer with a lightbox of images that match the requirement, these do not show up in the views as they are viewed offline.

I have has a sale the same way when I had only 10 online images, same as you with a net value after commision and fees $85  ;D

Thank you Adeptris for clarification.

I was desperately checking and counting my views and zooms as I thought that without zooms there are no sales :)

Of course they matter to CTR but now I know that sales can happen suddenly without them.

wow,  such large amount in commissions with so little sales.
i am impressed. congrats ppl, and it's definitely more worthwhile
to work at your images for Alamy, instead of peanuts in micro.

btw, one thing, are the images you submit to Alamy different in context
or composition to the ones you had in micro. In other words, are your Alamy sales more creative and less sterile?

Just curious and wanting to learn the market differences. Congrats again.

The short answer is yes and no. My portfolio at Alamy is fairly diverse, and I see sales from both straight stock and the more quirky images, although I'd have to say that many of my better sellers are from shots that probably would hit the trash bin of the micro previewers. Not suitable for stock or poor composition and such. It's really a good thing because it helps divide where images go. My low sale at Alamy is $39 and high is $1635. I get 65% so that would be around 3200 DL at .33/DL in the micro world. However it's a lot easier getting a DL than a $1600 sale. No decision is straight forward.
