Thank you Alamy! A nice $50 REFUND back to Customer.  I've lost count on how many REFUNDS Alamy has done to me in my several plus years in business.  I guess I am working for FREE today for Alamy... :-\

Yup, I had exactly that yesterday, a $50 (gross) image refunded.
Is this the same as yours, by any chance?
Country: Worldwide
Usage: Editorial, Editorial - websites, apps, social media and blogs (excludes advertising). Worldwide for 5 years.
Media: Editorial website
Image Size: Any size
Start: 28 October 2018
End: 28 October 2023

We have to hope that it will be rebought, which I think all of mine - except one - have been, albeit at lower prices. It seems that they buy images, then are due a bulk discount, hence the refund/rebuy. Sometimes they have been rebought at the same price, more or less a few cents (which is said to be currency conversion rates on different days) but I don't know the reason for them.
Fingers crossed.

And in Good News, my pic has been rebought ... so the $50 gross/refunded file was resold for $65 gross!

Go Alamy!!!   :)

Later: No, now it's in my Sales History and it seems like a total coincidence.
The refunded sale was, as above:
Country: Worldwide
Usage: Editorial, Editorial - websites, apps, social media and blogs (excludes advertising). Worldwide for 5 years.
Media: Editorial website
Image Size: Any size
Start: 28 October 2018
End: 28 October 2023

Today's sale of the same file is:
Country: Japan
Usage: Editorial
Media: Television (editorial)
Print run: Unlimited transmissions
Placement: Use within body of show
Start: 15 November 2018
End: 15 November 2023
To include use on the Open University website

Oh well, it's still a nice sale!

Every refund on Alamy, for me, has been followed by a license of the same image, in a day or two, different terms. Also lower price, but still sold, and paid.

It would be nice if I got a refund of the original sale, but that's five days now ...
Could be a project which was cancelled. I've had that before.

Unlike yours Sue mine all came from the same country, just the usage changed on the lower price license. We never know if the first was a demo and the second was the real customer? Oddly I had one DL for a smaller size, then a day later much larger version, they never took the time to get a refund and paid for both. I liked that!

Do you sell RF there or RM?
I've had two sales of the same file on the same day, but several scenarios have been suggested for that, under RM.

Yes...  ;)

The double purchase was RF, all refunds with later purchase were RM. When they changed the rules, I made everything RF to match any Shutterstock Editorial sales. At least I think I did? I asked AL to do that for me.

After  very few Stupid Emails I said Close My account and basically FU after way to Many years and NO....I would not wait 45 days for them to do it....And I said keep the Money they owe Me. ........yes they kept the money for the cheap Fools they are.

They closed it in 7 Days!!. Im so over sites that think they control what people want and need based on there Bias and short sighted attitude.

Seems like they've changed their mind : https://www.alamy.com/contributor/help/stockimo.asp
You can upload cell photos with their app Stockimo.

I do like them thou, haven't had a refund so far and RM / editorial sales are quite good - between 20$ and 70$ per photo, with a few exceptions at 150$.

You need to read the rules before uploading to a professional stock AGENCY. They do not accept mobile phone images, that's very clear. If some have been accepted in the past that's just lucky for you, and it's because Alamy only check a small number of images. They probably won't sell though and if they do, the quality won't be as good as a well-taken and processed DSLR image (in MOST cases).

Alamy are not perfect at all, and I have several issues with them that are never addressed, and they do have an attitude of "This is how it is because we say it is" and no amount of logical thinking changes that. However, they are overall pretty decent and genuine, and having a go at them in a forum when YOU are in the wrong only makes you look silly.

As for StockIMO - That's a sister company to Alamy and is there for only smartphone images (iPhones only). Reading the guidelines properly tells you all this basic stuff. So many newbies don't bother reading them, then complain that their images are rejected or they aren't selling!

Same for me, from memory. I haven't had many refunds but a few have shown up, with either a lower value license following shortly after or the same fee with slightly adjusted terms.

As for the multiple sales of the same image mentioned in this thread - I believe this can happen with book sales, particularly educational books where a different copy is produced for students and teachers. That's what has been suggested to me in the past, and it makes sense.

That would be relevant to RM, but not for RF sales.

True, I hadn't read the previous posts fully so didn't spot that.

True this isn't rocket science and if someone reads the rules?  https://www.alamy.com/blog/alamys-rough-guide-to-digital-cameras

"Almost all compact cameras, fixed lens cameras SLR-like Bridge Cameras and all mobile phones cannot produce images that meet our guidelines"

Now back to the OP, any change or did you lose the $50 sale because of that refund?

Not to hijack but I had really big sale 15. Oct. and this thread got me thinking, where it said "Date purchased / refunded" two dates should be included right?

No, but I'm not sure what you meant.
Are you saying the file was purchased, then refunded? If so, that is recorded in two different rows.

I've had my fair share of refunds but have learned to accept it at Alamy. Overall, they have been a pretty fair agency when comparing to others "micro sites". While Alamy is not technically micro, they are inching their way closer to that model.  Not defending their policy but they do respond to emails and they do pop in here to address issues, which is way more than I can say about SS or most other micros. When Scott Braut was part of this forum it was meaningful.  Once he left, SS became just another agency to me. RIP Scott.

Not on that page but that cleared it up anyway, thanks, no refund, so far.

Why would somebody upload 200 phone photos when the rules say no phone photos. How do cellphone photos sell when they aren't accepted. Close account is righteous, they don't need you you don't want them.

To clear the info in my post #3 above:
I contacted Alamy and they replied:
"These sales are both from the same customers, they purchased the editorial website
license in error so this was refunded and our sales team helped them purchase the
correct license on 19 November for TV use."

So all is well in my world, Go Alamy!  8)

@Nobody: have you had your refund rebought?
Oops, I didn't notice that Nobody has left the building.  ::)

Yes unfortunate, it seems odd that Nobody left?  :) I mean if it's read literally. Otherwise too bad.

I never contacted them but you make a good point. The buyer for mine, since they were within one day, and the photo was only downloaded once, on any site in eight years, is most likely the same situation. I don't know if I mentioned, every refund and re-buy was for a lower fee as well. The RF was purchased first in small and then much larger size, no refund. Just fine with me.
