Hi all

I found what I believe to be the best uploading method (for me).

I have found a Java Script called "Resize To Pixel Count" at the Adobe site, here's a link:

I set up an action with this script put up to a value of 17000000 px.

Now it is fully automated, regardless of the image original size.

I did scripts in PSP for this too, one for horizontal images and another for vertical, with step upsizing.

This is too old script which dont convert to image 16bit, not making new 50%transparecy darken layer with despecle filter or even more actions.
Too simple to be useful for most images for reasampling.
Its better to make few actions...

I was referring to how to resize a batch of differently cropped images to the required 48mb size, regardless of their original sizes. With this action, that is exactly what one could do. The only problem is that the script runs only on opened images, so you have to open all of the images you want to resize in PS and then batch process them.

Anyway, I can always add any other task to the same action if I want to. And why do I need to convert to 16bit, or add a new 50% transparency layer, regarding image resize for Alamy?

I'm a bit confused on the minimal megapixels needed for Alamy. I have seen some people claim it is 16MP, while others claim 17.5 or so. Doing the math, I get this:

// 48 MB is not the same as 48 000 000 bytes, so we have to convert to the same units
1 MB = 1 048 576 bytes
48 MB = 48 MB * 1 048 576 bytes = 50 331 648 bytes
// So, minimum uncompressed size has to be 50 331 648 bytes.

//1 pixel = 3 bytes (Red, Green, Blue)
Uncompressed Size = Bytes per pixel * Total number of pixels
50 331 648 bytes = 3 bytes * y MP <=> y = 50 331 648 bytes / 3 bytes = 16.8 MP

Minimal megapixels for Alamy is 16.8 MP.

Am I correct? It is easier for me to upsize to match a given MP value, than it is to match an uncompressed size (I use Gimp).

Another quick question: do I have to re-upload the four initial test images or are they kept online from the moment I'm accepted?

I believe your math is right, as this is about the minimum size of the images I upload there (16.85MPix).

Indeed I have had a "not correct size" message while uploading images that are 48Mb. I usually work all at 52Mb to be sure.

Because exactly 48MB files are read as 47.8 or less by the computer checker. Make the files at least 48.4 and you won't have failures, if cutting it close is important.

However just re-size a digital proportioned image to 5100 and you have it. PS shows the actual file size before and after before you hit the accept button.

Incremental re-sizing is ancient voodoo, not necessary anymore. Just adding this because it keeps coming up like a weed in the garden.

No need to buy genuine fractals or something else. Elements, Lightroom or Photoshop (anything modern) will work just fine.
