is there a limit?
-
There is no limit, Alamy like almost every other company, has bad payers.
However, this thread is interesting:

Jan 16th 2013 (though usage began 16 Nov 2012), but I'm sure someone will beat that.
But I've already been told by Alamy that I won't be paid, as per ShadySue's post. :(
-
January 16th 2013 too.
-
22 June 2012. I asked about it and I think the distributor stiffed Alamy so I am unlikely ever to be paid for that sale.
-
thanks for the replies guys!
from 2012? :o

I can't beat the 2009 sale linked to above, but last night I found three uses of a file, all by the same infamous newspaper, none of which corresponds to the dates recorded in sales. So I fired off a query, discovered that two of them were legit (although the dates are way out) but the other was:
"19-Jul-11
Will be billed by the end of next month"
It would be nice to imagine that they'd have to pay the full calculator price, or even the price it would have been in 2011, but I'll be pleasantly astonished if they don't get to pay their current tiny price.
-
In 2012 I found a newspaper use from 2008. I brought it to Alamy's attention and they billed it at the current rate so I got $4.08 >:(

Indeed. It's "company policy". >:(

August 2013 -- my first sale with them. I never really looked at it closely before, but I can see now that most of my sales have not cleared. I'm not sure you could create a more bizarre uploading and accounting system if you threw a team of monkeys at it.
-
I emailed Alamy over a month ago about a sale in November 2013, which is still not cleared. They have never responded to my inquiry. It is not a distribution sale. Losing confidence in Alamy for sure.

You're post surprised us so we've had a look into it and can confirm that you only have 2 uncleared sales and they are both from this year, all others have indeed cleared.
We report sales live as they come in and they clear when we have secured funds from the customer. This is different from other agencies where sales are only reported once the money is received from the customer.

That's really surprising that you didn't get a reply - we respond to all mails and our average response time in UK office hours is lest than 1 hr. Did you get the auto reply back to confirm we got your mail? If not there could have been an issue with it arriving.
Please email [email protected] and they will be happy to help. Alternatively, send us a PM with your account details and we can look into this for you.
Cheers

This is true and other Agencies should learn from Alamy. I write to Al. often (sorry for that :P) and I get fast and involved respond ALWAYS - best contact ever.

While I hate waiting so long for sales to clear and hate the often incredibly delayed reporting, and the fact that I sometimes have to bring a use to Alamy's attention, I too can confirm that they are almost always very quick to respond and they do track down uses and secure payment (even if it is sometimes less than one would hope).
Their member services people are always very friendly and willing to help. Glad to see them taking an interest here.
