I've often wondered about the accuracy of Alamy's statistics in 'Alamy Measures'. I used to see quite reliably (at lesast I thought it was reliably) the number of zooms on my images, but recently I often see more sales than zooms. Can this be right?
Hopefully the attachment shows you what I'm talking about.

I think they don't register zooms from every customer. So it's quite possible for a buyer to purchase an image without a zoom showing up.
-
You're lucky, I would prefer more sales and less zooms, but it's good to know the zoom count isn't accurate.

Had 2 sales this month ( 1 RF and 1 Novelll Useee... ) without any zoom.
I prefer more sales than zooms too ( or views ).

Yes, the stats are only recorded from their biggest customers. Also some sales will be made via picture requests, so these might not show up as zooms.
-
Zooms are only recorded for some site visitors. Always been the case.
I'm on a roll! 7 Sales in the past month and only 5 zooms. 0 overlap between what was sold and what was zoomed. 0 overlap is very common by my observations.

Not only are the views from established customers the only ones counted, sometimes a zoom might net a sale that isn't reported until a long time afterwards (eg newspaper self-reporting) and other times the customer buys without zooming.
I've also had a license issued via a distributor that became effective many months before the sale appeared in my list.

I'm glad the OP asked this - I was wondering the same thing after a nice sale this month with no zooms. It sounds like zooms aren't worth keeping track of.

They give you an idea of what has caught someone's eye I can't think of any other particular significance. If you have the only zoom on a search it's a hopeful sign.

I just noticed that you get a far more accurate assessment of what's happening with your images if you click on your "Pseudonym".
