I upload to BS from time to time but I do hate this minimum of 7 words rules in description field. I don't see the point of it and it makes uploading a real pain.
I hope they will change this? do we really need to tell a looooooong story in description field?
-
Yeah, it's painful. I am kinda used to it now since I upload to bigstock on a regular basis. I think what they want is to give google something to chew on:)
-
It is painful. I agree!
7 words description is way too much for a photo.
Description should be simple and to the point. Hopefully they will change this.

There were a number of complaints when they first did this, and given that they've stuck with it this long, I'm not holding my breath for things to change. Clear and appropriate descriptions is a perfectly reasonable requirement; trying to get those by insisting on 7 words is just assinine.
I write descriptions that fit and then, if needed for Big Stock, just pad with unnecessary extra words for their site only.
Disambiguate for iStock, order keywords for Fotolia, pad descriptions for BigStock, someone won't allow a word twice in the description (I forget who)...many sites have irritating foibles.
-
If one of my descriptions is shorter than 7 words I just put "a" after it until it's 7 words.
-
I did this too. I just put one or two letters more, it's kind of absurd how it's working. I don't upload there everytime, because this site is for me, the badest of the good earner ones. The upload system is kind of annoying there and the interface is obsolete...

As far as I know, you have the option to add technical info in as well (like "Canon EOS 400D; 60mm - f8 - 1/125; location, time of day, your shoe number... :-)
-
That's ture, I don't have any problem with this!
ex: tower bridge with blue sky background => tower bridge with blue sky background in London
pole with blue sky background => a pole with clean blue sky background
I think it is very easy to reach 7 words~!......lol
by the way I don't like BS, bad review time, website design badly (ugly)
bad sell, if crestock improve their review time, will be next one to replace
BS to be Big6 .........................I think

But this is so eeeeezy :)
"Paper-clip on white background" becomes "Beautiful, little paper-clip on a clean, snowy white background with small touches of sensor dust". That's going from 5 to 15 words, and I haven't even started describing the little ant that passed over the white sheet of paper just prior to taking my photo ;D
Correction: that was me taking a photo of the paper-clip, NOT the ant taking a photo of me. Just in case anybody wonders...

Yes it's easy, but that's not the point in my opinion. It's more about where your file is showing in the best match. If Bigstock is like Dreamstime, more you have words in your description, less you gone show up in the search. That's just one thing who affect the best match, but it have to be considered.
Now how work the Bigstock search engine...We can talk about for months again...
