What a surprise! I uploaded 4 images this morning and 8 hours later all approved. I think they set a new record for review times at BigStock. I have had less than 24 hours before and at the longest 19 days after Popular Photography gave them a nice write up.

Good work BigStock team!

Woo-effing-hoo. Maybe they're just a lot less busy nowadays since we became aware of their poxy 20% commission rate.

I'm certainly not uploading to them again until they get back to the original 50% commission we used to have __ or until they start to match the sales volume of IS. It's just not worth my time to do so.

It has been like this for at least 2 weeks. I guess many people stop uploading...

If you did not understand the rates .... well you did not read or cannot understand the terms clearly printed on the BigStock site as quoted below:

From the Photographers FAQ

How much can I earn?
There is unlimited potential for earning. We pay at this time $0.50 commission per credit spent for standard images. Special licensed images is slightly different. But standard images sell for between 1 and 6 credits, so you earn from 50 cents to $3.00 per download.

As advertised on BigStock home page.
Image Pricing: Image pricing is flexible and our prices are the lowest in the industry based on the quality and file size you receive:

First you purchase image credits. With these credits you can download images - larger image cost more, smaller images cost less:
Smaller images, 900x675 px = 1 credit
Medium images, 1600x1200 px = 2 credits
Large images, 2800x1800 px = 4 credits
Extra large images, 3800x2900 px = 6 credits

Image Credits Cost Your Price Per Credit
1 $2.50 $2.50
10 $20 $2.00
20 $35 $1.75
30 $45 $1.50
100 $140 $1.40
300 $300 $1.00

If you did not read or understand the rates of payments and commissions when you signed up with BigStock (if you did) that is your fault. It has never been a secret for at least the last 2 years and 8 months that I have been on BigStock. I read it and understood it from day one.

It has been like this for at least 2 weeks. I guess many people stop uploading...

I know I'm one of them, and will not be uploading there anytime soon, since lately, low earner sites makes more money for me than they do, without the recent dumb rejections and sneaky management tactics...overall, for me, it has become a complete waist of my time to upload to BigStock.

Edited-BTW this is a quote from Dawn Donahue on a different thread...(an insult in my book!)

Most of you know, we are always very fair and we want you to succeed as well. We feel great when you make money -- we love the fact that we can help people make money with their hobby and it pays some of your bills.

Same here. Actually by my calculations they are eye-wateringly profitable __ probably trousering a good $2M clear profit per year. Not much evidence that I can see of them spending much on marketing either.

I don't mind them making a good profit __ provided we get a reasonable share of the action.

BigStock is the best microstock site in terms of ease of use, but there is one thing I do not like, and if guys from BigStock are reading this, they could really help. I do not like that there is no way to delete a photo by yourself. You have to ask them to do that for you. I just do not feel comfortable with this. I understand the explanation behind this. But, still. Let us delete our own pictures. Thanks.

You know what? When I first started with  BigStock, that was my biggest complaint. But I had an email from Support that once my images have passed the 90 days, I can email them to delete without any problem. Since then, I have requested deletions of some images and each time Liz or Joseph have gracefully fulfilled my requests, and very promptly.
I don't think  you should be concerned about that, as it was never a problem for me, and it still is no longer a concern for me.

No problem Dook.
Although I would suggest not to simply delete your images right after 90 days. Not unless it's to be exclusive or for some vital reasons.  The reason being that with BigStock, I find that buyers do keep your image in abeyance, and they could buy them sometime down the road. I still find it myself getting a sale on my oldest image with BigStock. Something to think about.

But if you do need to request deletion. Simply list your image #s in sequence, and send a note to Liz or Joseph. That's all that's needed.

Im guessing quicker review times probably have a little something to do with the fact BigStock recently started restricting uploads.

Upload limits = people are submitting less photos
Fewer photos to review = Faster review times

Look at it this way.
Fewer photos to upload means more critical selection to submit
Faster review time means (hopefully) faster downloads results

If this is what it's going to bring to BigStock's contributors, I 'd said,  "Go for it , BigStock !"

I must be an exception or the ugly stepchild.  Mine are getting reviewed fairly rapidly but nothing like an eight-hour turnaround.

My biggest complaint is that the income from their site really hasn't altered over the time that I've submitted there. Despite having well over 2000 images online, and their low payout limit, I still struggle to make a payout each month. This isn't a problem on any other site. BS doesn't show any signs of doing better any time soon.

Well, I had my previous uploads approved within 4-6 hours last week. But now it seems to be a bit longer. It is after all the peak of summer for many of us, so perharps some reviewers are having summer breaks too.
