Title: Bigstock and US sales
Post by: luissantos84 on December 20, 2012, 10:58
interesting how Bigstock is so different from Shutterstock in terms of buyers, not only the amount of course but also the % from the US, sure it is related to the marketing investment etc just curious seeing they havenīt targeted much market outside the US (maybe thats only happening with me)

about 80% of my sales at Bigstock come from US buyers when at SS from 10 to 20%

Maybe it is the type of images you sell.  My % is much less than 10% US sales at both SS and BS

Yes it's odd.  I am always surprised how little of my sales come from the US when I actually often make images with US sales in mind.

I thought that it was odd that our figures were so different and went and had another look at BS and realized that I was looking at the wrong figures.    Mine are pretty much in line with yours in that the vast majority of sales come from the US whereas very little come from the US at SS

Looking at the time since I returned to independence (June 2011), BigStock non-US sales are 14% of the total and SS sales are 60% of their total. Seems to me that SS could help out BigStock sales a bunch by piggy backing their marketing on whatever they're doing for SS - that's a huge difference between the two "sister" sites

I'm still trying to understand why SS bought BS?
