Title: Bigstock customer survey
Post by: Fotonaut on February 24, 2011, 15:45
So, I just earned myself 25 free credits at Bigstock for taking their customer survey (I am a customer).

What was funny (or rather scary) is that all focus on the survey was on pricing. I actually like their pricing. Bigstock's real problem is search and archive quality/quantity. Which was not mentioned in the survey at all.

Hello Fotonaut,

Thanks for the feedback and we've got some good news.

As you mentioned, we are performing a pricing survey right now to ensure that we're providing the right products at the right price for our customers.  That should provide continued growth at Bigstock and more sales for our contributors.

The survey you received focuses on pricing, but we are doing significant work on the content quality and quantity front:

We know that there are a few more items that have been requested, but we're working hard every day to create one the best marketplaces in the industry for stock images!  :)

Best,

Scott

Yes! and as a contributor I agree. Bigstock would be brillant if they just refined their search-engine a bit more. I like this site.

 • We launched the Bridge to Bigstock (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/blog/theupload/2011/01/the-bridge-to-bigstock/) program.
 • The collection has grown to 6.4 million images -- adding 2.4 million images in a little over a year.
 • We moved to a new search engine that is much more accurate and returns higher-quality results than the prior search engine.
 • NEW! We just lowered the payout threshold to $30 to help our entire contributor base realize their earnings faster.
 • We've standardized our review policies in close collaboration with Shutterstock.
 • We launched new upload tools (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/blog/theupload/2010/03/new-uploading-process/) last year with keyboard shortcuts and better support for batch editing, etc...
 • We launched better sales and download reporting (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/blog/theupload/2010/06/better-reports/) for contributors to analyze their performance.
 • We launched a new blog,  The Upload (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/blog/theupload/), and a new newsletter to provide informational material to contributors on creating high-quality, salable images.
 • We're doing more to highlight the great images in the collection (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/blog/thedownload/category/inspiration/).
 • We translated our interface into two more customer languages, German and Spanish, which included our contributor area.

We know that there are a few more items that have been requested, but we're working hard every day to create one the best marketplaces in the industry for stock images!  :)

Best,

Scott

That's the first I heard of this.  Were contributors notified?   Did I miss an "alert?"

That's cool; and I just requested a payout.   ;D

Also, $30 is back to what is was when I started there.  Finally an attainable goal ... for me.   :P

Big thanks for reducing the payout amount! While $50 was good, $30 is great! I love Bigstock! I just wish that they were my #1 earner.

Nice list of changes and I to like the return to the $30 payout which is what it was when I started.

Now my request. I don't care what you do with the search, new images or anything else, if you can get me more sales. :)

Thanks

Yes, same for me. Good news Scott -much appreciated. It's more motivating for me to see regular payouts. It would be good if more sites followed this. Regards, David.
