I can't figure out a way of adding my images to the gallery I created. Any one did that successfully?

Pop the photo open, scroll down - you will see "Your Gallery Manager" and an Ad button. From there, pick which gallery from the drop-down that you want to put it in. (If you have named/created your gallery first). Hope this helps!

Or you can check the "add" under the thumbnail and it will give you the option to "add to gallery" (without having to open the image page).

Be aware that there is (at least was) a limit of 20 galleries.
