Title: Problem submitting images to BS
Post by: Dreamframer on July 19, 2010, 16:22
Does anyone have problems submitting images to BS today?
I save all data, keywords, categories etc., but when I click submit I get the message that images don't have all necessary data. After clicking "submit" button, I notice the website didn't remember categories.
No matter how many times I repeat the procedure, I get the same message.

Just finished submitting 5 minutes ago and all went well.  Make sure the Description has 7 words and in the Cat. you either enter new words or click the little blue "do you like this choice or whatever?" under the words to accept the given words.

You should see a little green check mark if everything is correct for each area.

Yes, I do everything as usual. And I can save the data. but if I click save and submit, I get the error message. I tried both, clicking "save and submit" right away, and saving data first and submitting later. I always get the error message when I want to submit.

Strange, when I click just save, everything is ok, and all data have green check mark, which means data is OK. But when I click submit, it forgots categories, so I have to categorize them again.

Hmmm, it worked in IE. But in Firefox it gives me the error.

I haven't tried it today, but I have not had that problem before. I have forgotten to accept the "guesstimate" by clicking on the words under the categories, like Etien mentioned, and that stops it from saving and submitting. Not sure what else could be wrong, sounds like you are doing everything right.

I will test it next time when I upload...I'm really confused...
Although, upload page looked a bit different in FF than in IE. In FF every image had an edit link below, and in IE there was only one edit link, written in big font.

I had some problem during uploading too, like after choosing the category and click 'submit for approval', there will be an error and the category will be reset. I choose another tab 'save the edit'(? not sure the exact phrase), and the go back to 'edit and submit' page and submit them from that page.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info.  It will be very helpful for us if you find a bug - please submit a quick email to our support team with a short description (or however long you'd like) of what happened and what browser and browser version you have.  There may be times in which a bug is related to a specific browser, specific images, a specific software version or a specific series of actions that didn't show itself during our testing.

Some issues are quick fixes as long as we have that information, so your feedback is very helpful in getting directly to the core of the issue and implementing a solution.

Thank you!

Best,

Scott

hi hit 'save changes' instead of 'save and submit'..then submit all of them under 'edit and submit' page.. you can actually highlight the first images and press shift + last image to select everything and click 'submit selected for approval'

To scott.. my biggest question is why there is still no way for eps vector contributor to get their IPTC data read from jpg? or zipped file with jpg preview?

not interested in this business? how are those illustrators willing to cut paste everything for every eps vector?

Hi mtkang,

I had replied in the Bigstock forums, where we prefer to do our communications (primarily because we don't actively monitor these forums for feature or support requests).  Reading metadata from EPS preview JPEGs is something that we have discussed internally.  One thing that I had requested in that other thread was any information that you can send with respect to when this happens for you, or any details about your workflow.  In other words, what circumstances occur that you have the info embedded in the JPEG and not in the EPS?

http://www.bigstockphoto.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3823 (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3823)

As mentioned, we're looking into support for this, but having specific info is very helpful for us.  It's important for us to understand where problems occur in addition to what solution is being requested.

Many thanks for your feedback.

Best,

Scott

Many of us use Adobe Bridge(or other batch keywording software) which does not support adding IPTC/XMP data directly to the eps so we add it to the jpeg. EVERY other agency that takes vectors that I submit to(about 10) can extract the iptc from the jpeg.

I have to copy paste the keywords manually when submitting to Bigstock and it's getting tiresome.

Thanks.

As mentioned, we're looking at this internally right now...and the Adobe Bridge scenario has been among our discussions. I'm not in a position to give an exact release date for an update yet, but we'll see what we can do and I'll post more information as I have it.

Again - any details you guys can add are always helpful for us.  It's often the case that users will describe their needs as solutions (we need a field for "X") but our goal is to also understand the issues, why they're issues, etc..., and get as much information about your workflow as possible.   The goal is ultimately to shorten the amount of time and the overhead of contributing.

Best,

Scott
