Title: A recommended lens from God
Post by: rjmiz on April 20, 2008, 10:24
God came to me in my sleep one night, and recommended I buy a Canon 24mm - 105mm f4 IS L for my camera.
Who was I to argue with a higher power, so I did. That was 2 years ago when the lens first came out.

Since then I have not regretted following his suggestion. It has to be my sharpest tool in the shed.
The only lens that comes close is my prime 50mm 1.2 I have done experiments with the 2 lenses side by side.
Not scientific, but side by side comparisons for sharpness. Both appeared to be equal and boy was I surprised!

Today, and every night when I go to bed and thank him. I now ask for recommendations on improving my sales
and improving the "Download-ability" of my images. I have not recieved an answer yet. I don't think he knows
what "Download-ability" means.

You need to disambiguate your prayers.

That's a good one. I could do with a couple of new lenses.  ;)
I wonder if it will work on my husband, even though I have spent an awful lot on camera equipment lately.
"A divine power urges me to buy a new lens darling."
Maybe not, he would say I was listening to the devil!

I have no god, but my mind can tell me that the new Nikon 24-70 is sharper than my 18-70. Even more my mind can tell me if it's going to rain in the next 12 hours and many other things. ;)

God woke me up too, out of a deep sleep.  He didn't tell me what lens to buy, but He told me He would replace my old lenses and give me new ones, to be able to see in perfect clarity, perfect contrast and detail and in perfect focus... the Love of the Father and the Love of His Son.   :)

God woke me up this morning too, only his message was more like "get your lazy butt out of bed and feed me." Funny thing though, he sounded just like the cat.

I love this lens also! Its got its shortcomings, but all easily fixed in photoshop. Great for fullframe camera.

I love it as well.....a fantastic 'walk-around' lens.  But on a full frame camera I do find it vignettes a fair amount.

Since your in good standing with the big man, could you maybe ask him to fix my 16-35 L II  :)
or maybe swap it out for good copy of the 17-40

God needs to show those good folks over at Canon how to make a small, easy to hold, EF 15-400mm f/1.4L IS USM with the sharpness of a great prime, 2:1 magnification, minimum floor of f/40 with no diffraction below f/22, zero CA's and distortion, with the saturation and color of a 17-40 L, with nearly instant and perfect focusing, that also cost less than $500.

Maybe some day my prayers will be answered.

Here's what I use for my table top product shots. Gets the most DOF.

From the title I guessed this would be about the Canon 24-70 2.8L.  Although I also own the 24-105 IS, the 24-70 is still sharper by a hair, and the color is to die for!  If I could only have one lens, that would be the one :-)

The 24-105 is nice for the extra reach though...

God doesn't have a very big market share in this part of the world, but the spirits have shown me the way to a shop where there's a mint, used 135mm f/2.0 for sale at a reasonable price. I worry about what will happen to me if I don't follow the advice of the spirits. I may even end up as a Canon user in my next life. Shrug.....   :D

I'd better buy it then   ;)

That would be the perfect lens!  My pick would be an EF 10-300mm

My god told me a year ago to go and get the 10-22mm canon, never looked back also :)
