The teaser site seems to indicate a built in battery grip.

ahhh.. finally :)

key points were
    *  New 21.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor with improved EOS Integrated Cleaning System (E.I.C.S.)
    * New Full HD 1080 resolution movie recording
    * 3.9 frames per second continuous shooting
    * High performance DIGIC 4 providing superb image quality
    * Maximum 310 large JPEG images in a single burst with a UDMA card
    * 3.0 VGA (920k dots) Clear View LCD
    * ISO 100-6400 (expansion from 50 up to 25,600)
    * 9 AF points + 6 Assist AF points

glad it is not only 16mp
Kinda surprised that there was only one camera though.  There was a lot of rumours that seemed like they could be true about 2 cameras.  Anyhow it looks pretty good!

Well, I must getting older cause I do not care about HD video and live view. Everything else seems to be delicious. What about weather sealing?

Anyone wanna buy my old 5D? ;) But seriously this is a huge upgrade and I will definetly invest some money on this (reasons: megapixels(maybe longer lasting images) and ability to shoot stock footage as well (new market as well) ).

There was a G10 as well.

The video is a great idea. Seems like stock videos are a good seller.

NOW ... how much can we expect to see the OLD 5D reduce to? My bet is $1300 will be the price around Xmas at B&H

Inside and out, the EOS 5D Mark II is one tough performer. Under the hood, a soft-touch shutter delivers precise, electronically controlled speeds from 30 seconds to 1/8000 sec. Adjustable in increments of 1/2 or 1/3 stops with flash synch up to 1/200 sec*1, the shutter assures trouble-free operation over its 150,000-cycle*2 life-span.

Outside, a stainless steel chassis reinforced by magnesium alloy offers excellent protection against the minor bumps and drops of everyday use.
Resistance to dust and water has been enhanced through the use of sealing material around openings for the battery compartment, memory card slot, and buttons (red). Additional protection is provided by highly accurate alignment of seams on the magnesium-alloy chassis and rubber grips as well as precision construction of each dials axis (green)..

Ok,
There's no specifications about the sound recording capabilities (mono? stereo? 16 bits? 44.1khz?).
We only know it's possible to plug a micro...

A built-in microphone records in monaural while stereo recording is possible via the external microphone input terminal.

Yes, PCM audio recording, but this don't tell us the processor capabilities, range dynamic, frequencies choices etc.

wow finally!
ALL GREAT! except for the price in the UK   oh man that    is so unfair the price in the Uk is 1900 dollar higher( 2,299. ,which is about usd 4600)than the US according to  dpreview
I have to find a way to buy it from the US:(

i end up buying almost all my equipment from BHphoto in the states, even though i live in norway.

there is certainly something wrong with the pricing as the price in the EU is about euro 2500 which roughly equals to 2000  pounds no  one would buy it from the UK than.
I might try to  buy it from BH but I worry about the customs taxes (and shipping too) I have to figure out how much I'd pay for them.

good point! may be some computer experts could help us with that by pointing out ideal system for it.but it is very likely  I  might need to update my computer too(may be I could get away with with some extra RAM)but for HD video editing we do need a powerful  computer

you can go here
http://www.dpreview.com/gallery/canoneos1dsmkiii_samples/
and open the the 1ds mark III sample images - which are the same size as the 5D images.

They are just jpg, but you can open them up in photoshop and save them as tiff and play with them and see how things go.

the jpg works flawless

8bit tiff with 2 or 3 layers is ok, afforable

16bit tiff with more than 4 layers applying hard filters like lens correction, etc. can be used but only in special times.

Well I think I can buy the 5d2 without upgrading my pc  :D
