A bit of advice if you own a Canon 5D Mark II, don't buy a Lexar UDMA card - the camera won't format the card, advice on the internet is to format it in the computer, that works and the camera will then format the card....HOWEVER none of the shots you take register when you try to download them onto your computer and when you put the card back in the camera guess what - 'This card cannot be formatted' error comes up.

I normally use Sandisk but my supplier was out and sent a Lexar instead.

Apparently Lexar have a history of cards not working with Canons - shame I didn't know that before

what about Panasonic Pro High Speed SDHC (class 6 ) 16 gb. ?
i was lucky to get one open boxed for half price when i bought my Pentax k20d.
been shooting a lot, and had no problem. really fast processing.
Panasonic is usually very expensive in the store I worked part time. So I was happy I got this at a chain store, because nobody wanted it. too much gig. So when I got the Pentax from them, the boss told me she had a deal for me if I didn't mind an open boxed .
Maybe that will work on Canon too.

Thanks but my intention was to warn others rather than get suggestions, I've already got some Sandisks.
Just didn't want anybody else wasting their money.

Nope always been a Canon guy, I fell in love with the A1 back then, couldn't afford one of course but it was my dream camera, last year I bought myself a pristine one of eBay, it still had that smell of a film camera which you don't get with digital.

I must say though that I don't do the Canon v Nikon thing, I think they both make great cameras and I was tempted to switch to a D3.

Hmm, I actually thought Lexar and Sandisk cards come from the same factory. Thats what a dealer told me here in Germany. He said that they are the same under a different name..

Nope. Canon dSLRs use CF (=Compact Flash) cards.
Yours is an SD (=Secure Digital) card. Totally different thing.

Edit: wait a minute, a Canon 1 series can use both a CF and an SD. I doubt the 5 series can.

Your HDHC cards will work perfect in a Canon DSLR (Just the Canon XSi however)

And I suggest Sandisk.
I only format in the Camera Never the Computer.

I use HoodMAN RAW Professional 300x UDMA CF cards, works great, and superfast on my 50D (and udma card reader).

You are correct! But it is a good camera!
I still prefer CF cards and I am about to sell my XSi and XTi and all my EF-S lenses and break down and go for the New Canon 5D mk II Full frame.
