I have a mini tripod and an adaptor for a larger tripod that I use when I'm shooting video with my phone. I only shoot video with my Nikon when it's on a tripod too, but the D800 and D810 only shoot HD where as the phone and GoPro will shoot 4K, so I tend to do those instead. I know there are adaptors for the mirrorless, but I suck at attaching those things. Almost all my lenses are Nikor. I might have one Tamaron left, but not sure. I'd have to check. My husband bought a lot of my original gear thinking he knew more about photography than I do so I have several things I rarely if ever use too.

I'm still relatively new to stock photography (less than 10 years) so I'm still learning and growing. Haven't really set hard goals. Gave up the idea of making enough from this to live on, but it does pay for a lot of gear. I just topped 19,000 images on SS. Only 7600 ish on Adobe since they don't take event editorial.

Probably a case of solidarity among bots against proper cameras.

Agencies' reviewing bots and software to improve images from small and inevitably poor phone lenses may use the same so called AI for their idea of noise reduction and sharpening.

I have to say that I'm happy with the move of the major camera manufacturers to mirrorless. All those people selling their little-used Nikon D800s for 500-600 which is less than half a new iPhone! Dunno how much better than the D800 the D850 is in image quality but at the moment the D850 used is still very expensive compared to the D800 and D800E.

Have to admit that for everything except commissioned work, the Sony A6000 (mirrorless) is a fantastic camera even with kit zoom lens and I use it all the time because it fits in my jacket pocket. If I were prepared to spend the money though.......I'd get an iPhone 12 or 13 because for most stock purposes it is the only camera I would need.

It seems that there are better macro lenses for mirrorless cameras available. Owning a Nikon D700, D810, D850. It seems there is no new Nikon 105 macro for DSLR on the way. The new Nikon 105 macro for mirrorless seems to be a great lens.
So Nikon where is the new AFS 105 macro for DSLR?
My other Equipment.
Nikon afs 20/1,8 (great lens), Nikon 24/1,8 (great lens), Nikon 50/1,4( useable above 2,8, great above 5,6) Nikon AFS 70-200/2,8 FL(usable at 4.0, great at 5,6 to 11) Nikon AFS 105/2,8 macro ( great on the D700 but to less resolution for D810, D850), Nikon AFI 300/2,8 (great but to heavy)
Some Tripods, some Elinchrome Flashes, some Softboxes, etc,...

I don't shoot Nikon but if they are anything like Canon, new lenses are designed and released according to demand.

A quick look shows Canon with 18 new R lenses on the way and Nikon with 11 new Z lenses.

Canon has stopped developing new lenses for the EF and I'll guess Nikon is going to do the same for their older models. No new lenses.

Probably Nikon has also stopped developing new lenses for the F Mount.
Maybe i will get the Zeiss Milvus 100/2 macro lens. But its seems there is sometimes a problem with bokeh and CAs.

Is there something wrong with the old Macro lens? "Nikon AFS 105/2,8 macro" ?

Nikon Has Discontinued Several F-Mount Lenses: Report

While this could be good news for people who want an older lens or camera, like I saw the Canon 135 f/2 (rumored to be dropping in value?) I just bought one. As time goes by, people will want these older lenses which are suitable and adaptable to new mirrorless cameras. I'd expect the older, out of production lenses to start commanding a better price and demand stays the same. There's no replacement yet?

100mm macro EF used around $400, New $1299 if you can find one. RF $1399 - I don't know that everyone wants to pay for new when used is a better value? The Japanese camera dealers seem to be dumping their inventory. I was skeptical at first but I'm seeing more and more on eBay for bottom dollar prices.

After thinking and looking, to answer the OP question.

Canon Assorted 50-D, 40-D, 20-D, 10-D, and an EOS-M first issue. L zoom lenses and primes, except a Sigma 10-20mm and a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for my wide lenses. Oh and one lonely 28-135 EF that's on my travel camera. Anything in combination is a matter of choice for the situation.

I looked at the website of the store Cameraland in Alkmaar, where I bought my camera and lenses. I would like to have this lens: https://www.cameraland.nl/sony-fe-600mm-f-4-0-g-master   :)
And then please with this camera: https://www.cameraland.nl/sony-a1-body

Maybe something for my next birthday. I'll ask my wife and kids about it.

Thijs, but for a gift of this magnitude you need a lot of kids. Good luck. ;)
Do you have an e mount or A mount Sony camera? I have a Sony nex 5n with kit lens & various 1980s vintage lenses incl olympus & pentax. and 3 ext. tubess for close up. Also have an A mount minolta 75-300 lens with an AF e-mount adapter.
I also have a Canon SX powershot superzoom which I mainly use for youtube video & ebay pics now. but I still got photos accepted when I started on SSTK over 2 years ago. I even used the canon when it was realy cold in UK a year ago & worked flawlessly. The Sony though kept reading camera error on the screen and didn't like the cold at all

1 Canon 5D MkIV with EF16-35 f/4, Sigma 24-105 Art, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, EF100-400L MkII, Sigma 150-600 Sports.
2 Canon R5s with EF-RF adapters, RF-24-105 f/4, RF 24-240, RF 70-200 f/4 (sharpest lens of all of these on the list), RF 100-500L.
1 Nikon D5200 with 16-35 f/4, 50mm 1.8, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 G2, Tamron 18-400, Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6.
2 Nikon D500s with lenses noted above.
1 Nikon Z 7II with Z 24-200 and FTZ adapter.
2 Sony A6500s (primarily underwater work) with Sigma 16mm C, Sigma 30mm C, Sony 50mm f/2.8 macro, Sony 90mm f/2.8 macro, Tamron 18-300.

I still use them all (except the D5200).  And I still have 2 EOS film cameras from back in the day: 630 and 650.  I can never bring myself to sell my older gear, so I use it when the mood strikes me, instead.  I'm actually thinking of getting another Z 7II.  And yes, I own all these because I can. :)

My favorite "walk around" combos are the Z 7II with Z24-200, R5 with 24-105, Sony A6500 with Tamron 18-300.  All of these cameras and lens combos have produced stock images.

1.  Canon 6D (1st gen) body, with lenses (all Canon):
  • 24-105L
  • 70-300L
  • 17-40L
  • 50mm

Using mostly 24-105L as it is versatile enough, although sometimes too soft in corners.   70-300L is optically superb, but very heavy.  50mm prime is great quality for price (under 200 Canadian).   17-40L is just collecting dust.

2. Sony Rx100 (3rd gen), with built-in 24-70mm lens F1.8 - 2.8 aperture

Being huge hiker, Sony is invaluable.  With good light quality will sometime approach Canon Full-Frame SLR. Small sensor deficiency is obvious in low light.   In camera HDR is superb, vastly superior to Canon in-camera HDR.  As far as stock goes think I sold more with Sony than with Canon.   Still believe 1st gen of Rx100 was the best though, but I ruined it in Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave in Belize.  Between all the "upgrades" of 3rd gen, I find I use only the tilting viewfinder which is quite handy when shooting something off tripod

3.  Three tripods, of which I use the most small pocket Manfrotto I got on Amazon for 20 bucks. Works fast with Sony, but won't hold SLR.  Sirui Carbon Fiber after that, light enough to take on travels, will hold SLR.  Heavy Photomaster mostly sits in trunk of the car

All the mirrorless hype is not appealing to me and I am happy with what I have.  Only real limiting factor is 20 Megapixel of Canon, which doesn't make it suitable for large prints;  but I workaround by shooting stacks - expose in center, then shoot the grid say 6x3 with huge overlap & you get super-resolution.

BMPCC 4K (Just with a Lumix-G 14 to 100mm at the moment, but I'm ordering a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Contemporary)
Sony FDR-AX700 Camcorder
Panasonic FZ-2500 Bridge Camera
GoPro 7
DJI Osmo

Probably going to sell a bunch of those as I have far too much gear. The BMPCC and the Zeapon setup are pretty new... planning to do some more 'live action' shooting, mostly studio stuff, food etc. The majority of my content is still animated space stuff though, so my post setup is...
