I have a dilemma:
Which one is better:
Canon 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 II USM
or
Sigma 28-105mm f2.8-4 Aspherical
Price is almost he same (250 vs 230 euros).
What would you recommend?
Which one is: -faster -sharper -nicer colors ? :)

I vote for the Canon.
Also if money is tight I always recommend Canon 50mm f/1.8. It is super sharp and I think it is perfect for taking stock type images.

I will buy 50mm f1.8 anyway. But I am in dilemma which one of these two....

My vote is for Canon 28-105.
You can look at:

for reviews.
I don't have a personal experience with either. But I haven't heard much good about the low-end sigmas.

In the long run you'll be disappointed with either of those lens choices. As you shoot more and more you'll simply become aware of the limitations and lack of quality compared to the 50mm F1.8.
What not look for a short telephoto on eBay? Same goes for wide angle - you might be able to find a nice 28mm F2.8 for not much money.

Have a look at the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. Very high quality for reasonable money. A longer reach is nice, but you pay for it in image quality and slower aperture.

Naaah, I will buy 50mm f1.8 anyway. But for start I want one of these 2 lenses, because ONLY them I can afford right now.
So I will probably go for that Canon 28-105 instead of Sigma. And latter, I will look for PRO lens. :) But since this is my first dSLR I think it is a decent one, and surely better than my old Canon PowerShot S3 IS camera :)

Well I don't know whether you have actually bought the camera, but I would seriously think again. Because having had Canon's I would suggest the lens quality is something you will regret.
If your budget is tight, I would suggest you look at buying a Canon PowerShot Pro1 instead. Because at least you will get an L series lens at 28 - 200 at f2.4 which is probably worth the price of the camera alone ...
They are on amazon from $449

My budget is low right now, because I am buying and camera too. In 6-7 months I will have money for L lens probably. I was using PRO1, my uncle has it, I just didnt like it. I prefer dSRL camera. And that is my final decision.
So, I was asking Canon 28-105 vs Sigma 28-105, not 400D vs PRO1. :)
