Title: How often do you do PIXEL MAPPING?

some of you with cameras that does this .  i have two cameras with these features, but never really thought about it, until i look at my manual this morning .
question:   how often are you supposed to do this?
should you do it when you first bought the camera? especially a demo, or a used one? or even a new off the box ?

Recommendation on an olympus SP 350 pocket cam my dad has is once per year per the manual.
