looks pretty nice and a good 5d competitor... now if canon would just release their hounds and give us a 5d replacement :)

A 16 MP 5d would be sweet as it would hit IS XXL size

It's nothing more than a D3 sensor in a unprofessional body... I talk about the 95% frame coverage here. My D200 was 95% and there's no way I will return to crop a little everything I shoot.

Just have a look at the two main body features specs:

D300 body: 6 fps. - 100% frame coverage
D700 body: 5.2 fps - 95% frame coverage
D200 body: Same as D700

It's only a nasty return to the D200 who wasn't that bad, but my D300 sensor perform as well as the D3 sensor at lower iso (LO1-200iso). And my body performances are greater. I don't need this D700 and I'm disappointed that it's didn't come whit a 16mpx sensor.

When those lazy engineers from Nikon will give us more megapixels one time for all ??

D300 is capable of 8fps. D700 advantage is higher ISOs where the D300 noise reduction reduces detail. For stock shooters who are probably working in the ISO100 to ISO400 range I'm not sure a D700 would offer any advantage.

I got the D700 mainly for ISO (esp. concert shots for my "other job") and full-frame sensor. I also like that it has dust removal and kept the uncool  :D built in flash. Also got the battery grip for faster shots, though I haven't used it yet.

Next concert isn't until next month, but if you click my SS icon below, you can see a few NYC and Santa girl shots. (Please be kind; I'm still learning the new settings).  At 100%, you'd see its focus with 24-70mm 2.8 Nikkor lens is incredible:

now lets see what Canon will come up with if they don't offer something as good I think they are likely to start to loose their loyal customers (including me)

sweet thing is Nikon released the pricing as a lot more expensive in Australia last time around. So hoping the 5D will be about same $. Now that the Aussie $ has crashed another 10 cents it makes more sense to buy local.
