There is a good review and some full size sample photos for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 here.

I am quite impressed by the sample photos, considering they have crammed 12mp on a small sensor. There is some noise but that could be dealt with quite easily. Looks like a good travel camera if you don't want to lug a heavy dSLR around. I will probably wait and see what olympus come up with.

Panasonics are well capable of producing fine images.
A number of my best selling images have come off Lumix - despite the noise issues usually associated with them.
As said, this can be cleaned up pretty easily.

I have a oly e-510 so not so good for me, I thought the G9 or G10 would be nice as second camera

I used to use the Oly E-510 which worked well in RAW at ISO 100 or 200, but I always hated the JPEGs from the 510. The E-500 which I owned before was much better with noise control in both RAW and JPEG.

Humm interesting observation eppic, I shoot Raw with the E-510 always at 100 and noise filter low, noise reduction off as settings. So far so good...

??? ??? ??? Olys are always full frame it is a single system with no bounds to a former 35mm-System.

not full frame you are but 4/3 system looks like they use it in the new E-30 ....

Its not much lighter than my E420 . I find that although the Jpeg processing is better in the 420 over the E510, you still get far better results from processing from raw, especially once you've worked out the nuances of the sensor. Still waiting to see how Oly's micro 4/3 camera goes, although I'll probably end up with the E3 replacement next whenever that comes.
