It's here:

I think we'll be seeing a lot of lens announcements in the future. I doubt the current ones will be good enought for 20+ mp.

I still think the design and logo look a little 'toy cameraish' but it has very fancy looking specs for a great price.

I am glad companies other than Canon and Nikon are creating some good cameras to keep things competitive.

I agree with that I was actually referring the specs but the design could  have been improved having said that I think it is a bit like  you either love it or hate it type ,'cos I remember some people calling it ugly while others found it cool.(I am talking of comments on the earlier  leaked images of the camera ,which might have  been even  fake  I don't know)

and oh yes!we ALL love the competition that is  going on don't we? ,which I believe pushes them  give us more and keep the prices tags lower ;D

Really going to put the pressure on Canon now. Borrowed a Sony on the weekend and could not believe how crisp the photos were compared to my 30D.

I think Canon will keep most of their loyal customer base simply because most have a stack of lenses and it is really hard to swap brands when you have so much invested.

Personally I think the new 5D needs to be cheaper than the Sony, and the old 5D is worth about $1200.

Litifeta I do hope they will take your advice and make the new canon cheaper :) or they have to offer something amazing to beat Nikon and  Sony

Low ISO samples look absolutely fabulous. And those Zeiss lenses are amazing. Can't think of a better camera for stock photography this side of MF.

Rumour has it that Nikon is already reducing the price of D700. They obviously anticipated this, which may be one of the reasons why they launched their camera so far ahead of Fotokina.

I would love to know the value of the gear stock photographers spend. It really has taken Sony to give Nikon and Canon a shake up for gear in our range.

I was very interested in this camera (although zeiss & sony lenses are very expensive), but a few reports are saying noise levels are slightly worse than pentax k10d, which I had a few iso 400 shots that I considered acceptable for stock, but basically to used reliably for stock I didn't go above iso200.  personally I'd wait to seeing more reports on this before buying.

Aren't the Zeiss lenses only with manual focus?

No, those for Sony are AF. The pro line consists of 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4 and 135mm f/1.8.

Apart from the 16-35mm which is new, the others are optically best within their segments and obviously designed with the 24MP sensor in mind.

I just read a few reviews of the Zeiss lenses. It seems they are really great lenses. The only drawback is price and no sealing as well as not so many lenses to choose from. But with Sony's camera intern imagestabilizer they should make an excellent combination.
It is just very hard to switch if you got accustomed to a body and invested in lenses. If I would start all over again I would seriously consider the sony alternative.

I consider buying it as a replacement for the MF system that I can't afford anyway. I would still keep my Nikon and Olympus gear for location shots and travel, at least for now. The A900, Zeiss 24-70 and one or two macros would probably solve most of my studio needs and give me lots and lots of resolution.

Just going to rob a bank or two first   :D

Pretty nice and a looks like a decent deal at $3,000US. Looks like an A700 with a FF sensor.

I wonder what Nikon will do given they use Sony for sensors. The rumored D3X was supposed to have this 24MP sensor but it would need to be more than the cost of the D3 which would be double the cost of an A900. The new D700 looks like it's supposed to compete with the A900 but it's the same cost but half the MP.

The DSLR wars are heating up.
