Title: Canon G12 & Underwater Housing
Post by: emreso on October 04, 2010, 08:14
I am willing to buy the new G12 but Canon did not come up with a new underwater housing for it.
(There is an underwater housing for G11 - the WP-DC34)

Here is the tricky part...
I have emailed the canon email support team - they werent clear but they said WP-dc34 is also compatible w/ G 12...
However, the G12 has a new dial on the front  ??? I asked they said there is a way for using the dial without touching the dial ?!?! : )

anybody have any idea?

Perhaps they meant that you can get to the same settings using other buttons.

You could also look at an Olympus epl1 + housing for a total of about $1000. That way you'll end up with dslr quality at a similar price.

I only saw it the other day - its 499 at B&H at the moment

So the housing is quite a bit more than for the G11, but the camera is around the same price as the G12. So overall its going to cost more, but I think you get DSLR performance out of this size sensor in a format that's better for underwater photography.
