I am thinking about another lens, probably a prime.  Currently for my 5DMkII for microstock I use:

24-105 f4 IS - Almost All the time, main walk around lens
100mm f2.8 Macro - Sometimes when I am doing Macro's
70-200mm f2.8 IS - Sometimes for walk around lens
100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS - Rarely - mostly for animals/birds/sports

I did a survey of my MS images.  About 40% are around 50mm focal length, 40% around 85mm,  the rest are scattered between 24-400mm.

What len(s) do you use the most for microstock?

I mostly use a 28-135mm on a Canon 50D. I also have a 100mm, but rarely use it because of the very shallow DOF. Some micros don't like very shallow DOFs. And I have the 70-200mm also, but I don't recall using it for micro.

For my Canon 5d mrkII:
I have 3 lenses 24-105mm this one I use the most
f2.8 50mm for when I need small DOF or light
f2.8 16-35mm for landscapes

on my want list,.

f2.8 is 70-200mm or f4.5/5.6 100-400mm

For the last 2 years I mainly used 85mm lens for studio portrait but it suffers from rather heavy CA; so lately I started to use 100mm f2.8 Macro instead (it's good for portraits, I don't shoot macro).

When I need wide angle I use Sigma 24-60mm f2.8.

I have the first three lenses you listed plus a 17-40mm, 50mm f/2.5, and 50mm f/1.4.

It depends on what you're shooting any given day. I just got the 50mm f/1.4 but I'd say the old 50mm f/2.5 macro is what I've used the most.

I really wish Canon would come out with a 17-70mm which would replace the 24-105 and 17-40.

I would love that too especially if they could do it at f2.8  and maybe add IS too?   But I guess most of the Canon upgrades go to the EF-S lenses.   So I suspect we would have to wait a while before we see new lenses like that.

I have a Canon 5d (Mark One :) )

the lens I tend to use the most is a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8.  It is really nice glass and comparable quality to the Canon 50mm f/1.8 - my second favorite lens.  the 28-75 is a nice all-around lens so I tend to have that one on the camera most often.

I also have the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro which is a super sweet lens and not sure why I dont use it more often.  I think I'll dig it out this week and start using it again.

for wide angles I have another Tamron lens I use for wide angle shots, I think it's a 17-35mm.  It's decent glass for the price I paid, but not as nice as the 28-75 I have from them and definitely not as good as a Canon equivalent.

due to my budget if I need anything other than those for a shoot, like a 70-200mm or 300mm, I plan ahead and rent a lens from borrowedlenses.com or prophotorental.com.

Canon 1Ds3 with Sigma 50 1.4 and Canon 85 1.8. I don't own any other lenses, I have a borrowed 24-85, which I rarely use (and even when I do is just for a shot or two). I don't like zooms anyway, IQ isn't as good, they're heavy and expensive (if they're any good). I shoot ppl.

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 gets the most overall use.
