Hi guys,

I joined canstock several years ago as well as other agency. I quit for couple of years and recently i am back to microstock world. I get quite high high high acceptance rate on istock (of course they accept anything now) etc. and half half on some others like fotolia. but it quite surprise me that in canstock, only in canstock i have a extremely low accept rate, which is lower to 0!
since per day i could only submit 25 photos using webpage and usually i got 0 accepted and 25 denied! of course the reason are various but i am quite shock why canstock is now so strict on the review of pictures.

Are they going to not accept anything in the near future?

Strangely enough my last batch was 100% accepted up to that for the last year or so very high rejection rate. Luckily easy upload process so don't really worry too much.

Strict? Don't think so.
Just a double standard over there.
They will except porno images, yet they don't except animal droppings.
Personally I'd get rid of the smut and then they'll have better business. :-\

Same here I throw them a bone occasionally and nearly all were rejected.

However I threw some at them this month and 100% acceptance.

Doesn't make any difference to the sub $10 sales each month though.

Why does it matter there are no sales there don't bother.

Getting images shot at 100 iso rejected for too much noise, and other images shot at f/9 at 35mm getting rejected for too shallow depth of field or out of focus.

I'm not sure what to think of this company

My images often get something like "This image does not appear professional in composition" or "under exposed" but as has been said not enough sales to waste time resubmitting or contacting support.

Their reviews are completely random.
Their system to attach releases is the most stupid that I know
Their sales are almost inexistent.

2 possibilities with them:
- Forget them and don't upload
- Upload and forget them

Its a shame though as though they were never great earners used to be a very solid site

How can they be great earners when most of the images that they reject are through the best sellers on the other sites (in my case)?
Do they really understand what the market asks?

They only seem to sell old images.  I stopped uploading new images a long time ago.

I think they're rejecting almost out of hand at the moment. I've just had a photo of a mallard (a species of duck, in case you don't know) rejected because I don't have  a model release for the image.....I tried to get the duck to sign a release, but it just quacked and swam off.

Then I've had another in the same batch - a swan swimming on a lake in sunset, which was rejected because there was a logo or other copyright material. There is nothing man made at all in the photo - so unless the Queen has now copyrighted all swans (and even then it wouldn't apply as I didn't photograph this one in the UK)....

Some of their rejections are possibly justified (even though I don't upload anything on CanStock that hasn't been accepted by at least 2 other sites), but some are just plain silly !!

Yeah, it would be hard to sell new images since you don't have any.  ;D

If I may to add my own notice, I have also some photos and cartoons rejected - many for missing releases for simple cartoons without any property or anything that would need release and similar images from same series were accepted, so its random, I don't care about.

But I have also group of cartoons, that are pending for months, long time I saw no connection between them, but clearly its every image with currency symbol, banknote or coin or any image even marginally connected with human sexuality, like sex symbol, some dating theme cartoons , sexual harassment theme cartoon, very simple cartoon man, that could be naked, but totally nothing is visible...All this images were accepted everywhere, on canstock are just pending....forever :)

They rejected many of my images for wrong keywords in the last year or so. But I have about 99% acceptance rate on more than 20 agencies. So nothing's wrong with my keywords, which BTW I'm choosing very carefully. If they think I will keyword my images differently especially for them, they are out of their mind. And on top of this they still pay me $0.25 for subs after 6000 sales. What a joke!

In a week two of my images will be celebrating being in the pending queue for a year!

They definitely fall into the fire and forget and only when I have some time category. Their rejections seem pretty random, but I stopped trying to figure them out. There is no way I would spend any extra time trying to change something for the level of sales they have.

Happy you!

I have 15 pending images since the beginning of 2015
They told me that they must verify some possible legal problem about them.

And other 2 pending since November 2017

They are just incompetent people.

I have about 3500 images with Canstock. I may sell 50 images a year...that is a good year. I sell around 10,000 images a year on other sites....Canstock is really a poor stock company and I would not worry about rejected images. W.Scott McGill

They have the highest rejection rate for me and one of the lowest sales.
Their submission process is pretty fast for me as I don't attach that many releases.

I stopped submitting awhile back when this started to happen
No changes mean no uploads and wasting my time

I upload because it's easy to include them in my workflow, but I'm often baffled by their rejections, and it does appear to be a total crap-shoot rather than any logic on their part.

If there was more effort then I would have quit them a long time ago, as the 20-30$ i get there per month is only a very small fraction of my stock income. I hit a submit button about once a week and get about 300$ a year for it, so it's worth that minimal effort.

I smile when I get the approved/rejection email, trash it and move on without another thought. I used to get cross, and resubmit as a matter of principle, but decided they are not worth wasting energy on.

I only get slightly irked when I see the gaps on my Stockperformer page, but that's about liking things to be neat and tidy ;)
