The final cashout process does not trigger an email confirmation, so it's normal to not get one. We won't start sending payments until the site is closed and sales are finished, to ensure everyone gets paid their final account balance - so no worries if a sale comes in after you submitted your payment request.

Also, thanks to everyone for their support over the years. It's been a fun ride for the last ~20 years!

I will miss CanStockPhoto. It was the first site I registered to and, as Mantis said also, a fair agency. Which is rare these days. Wishing you all the best.

The site is now gone.  It makes me sad to see them go.  They were one of the few that never cut our royalties.  Just dayum :(

I managed to get some sales last week too, I even actually passed the $50 treshold.

@Duncan: Thank you for making sure everyone gets paid their fair share.
It's been a good ride with Canstock; not many sales, but they were a fair agency, one of the few. Been with them since 2011. Sad to see them go.

Hello Duncan.
Maybe I would have been pleased to read this sooner, because I waited before requesting my final payout, there were still sales happening.
And I wanted to request, a few hours after the site has closed, but was not abble to do it. Maybe you could do something, I sent you a private mail here.
Btw, too bad Canstock is closing, it was a nice place.

Oops, I forgot to request my money on your site while it was running. Any chance I can get it?

Hello Duncan, just to clarify... If I did not request a payout before the site closed, I'll still get my funds?

Very sad to see CanStockPhoto shut down.

Thank you

Very sad to see CanStockPhoto shut down.

Thank you

I would say you are out of luck, unless Duncan works some back channels.

"For contributors, to request a final payment, contributors must log on to their Convert Earnings page and enter their payment information. Payments of $5 USD or more will be processed for account balances as of October 1st, for eligible accounts, who have submitted a request. Payments may take several months, but we anticipate they will be sent by December 31, 2023. The deadline to submit your payment request is September 30th."

Why did Canstock give up? Personal or financial? It's a shame somehow. No attempt was made to find a solution? But the running costs are probably too high.

It is not easy for any company to shutdown. The must have made many attempts for solution but time is not with them.
The industry is overflowing with assets now. The supply is way more than the demand.

:D yes but I don't think it's worth starting a discussion for BigStock, also because it is news that dates back months ago.

I have been with Canstockphoto since 2005-06. I'm really sorry to see it close.

That said, the deadline that was given for submitting a final payment request ended up in my server's spam folder and as a result I never saw it. I randomly found out the news after trying to log in to the site.

I haven't been submitting new content for many years, however also for many years I have been gathering royalties within the site instead of pulling it out. Several times I converted royalties to credits to acquire images for some of my projects. Unfortunately, my remaining royalty balance was well over $1000, which to my understanding Canstock will refuse to pay me. I have emailed them about it and I await their reply.

Leaving that money for a long time within Canstock was surely to Canstock's benefit, and now it feels bad that I am going to be "punished" for doing that. The fact that the email ended up on my server's spam folder is just what happened to me. I could instead be laying sick in bed, be dealing with a personal tragedy, or anything else someone who doesn't log into the website often, be dealing with that would deprive them of the "request what you are owed now or lose it" period. How fair does it sound to deprive someone of what they are owed?  If it was me, I would simply pay up all royalties to all accounts that have already provided me with their payment info in the past since this is money that doesn't really belong to me.

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on that.

Thanks!

Konstantinos

https://www.canstockphoto.com/ is accessible now. On the text on it you can read :

"As advised in our announcement on September 1st, all our membership agreements have now been terminated. For eligible contributors who filed a final payment request prior to the September 30th deadline, you should receive it by December 31st."

I think it's clear that they are happy to keep the money they feel allowed to. The way they closed was not the most honest and respectful way.
They simply ignore the messages and emails they get.

Did they reply? I have only noticed this now, email must've gone to spam folder. No idea what my balance was, can't remember the last time I withdrew from them. Doesn't seem that this can be legal? They have my PayPal details, no reason why they couldn't just send the money, other than it gives them a nice bonus when they close down at short notice?

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? It's your responsibility to regularly check your email inbox (and spam folder) and keep track of your earnings from time to time. They mentioned it on their website, in an email and on this forum a month in advance. And now those who didn't request payment complain that 'I bet they're happy they get to keep the money" as if Canstock is trying to scam contributors.

Who bet anything? read again! They act in their own financial interests. That's all that was expressed, there's no need to scam what was said.

I cringe every time I see people talking about personal responsibility. They could easily send everyone their balance to the same place they did their last withdrawal. Where's their personal responsibility? Is it OK for them just to take the money? This "personal responsibility", only ever seems to work one way? If I ever hold someone's money, I make sure they get it. I don't care about the money, I have no idea how much they had, it's the principle. It's not a big issues, I'm used to this, I have better things to do than check my email spam folder every day. I just like to have a rant, as it gets it out of my system.

Just wondering, has anyone got their payout yet? Each time I earned enough I always had trouble receiving payment. Hope it won't be that way this time.
