I've only been uploading to agencies for a couple of months now part time and have lees then 100 photos up on most sites. I've had sales on every site I've loaded to but Canstock and was getting ready to write them off. I dropped by the site today and had a $ 25 and $2 commission on sales. I think I've changed my mind :) I wanted to say "thanks" for all the great help and advice I've received from this site.

25 sounds good - what was the image? must have been some EL or something, my sales there are pretty poor at the moment
-
I had even higher, about $75. This are sales from Fotosearch probably.

Congratulations !!! Fringe and isolated incidents barely form pattern.

Yeah, you never now, first nothing and then bam, big sale. Like bigstock, I had 1 EL sale for 25$ which is almost unheard of. Before that only few 0.27$ sub sales.

I almost never look at the sales stats on CanStock any more as things are so slow, but I looked today and noticed that there have been some "Distribution Regular" sales for tiny amounts.
These used to be the Fotosearch sales at decent royalties, even though they weren't as frequent. Back in January, for example, there was a Distribution Regular medium sale with a $9.80 royalty.
At the end of June, there was another one of those, same size, but the royalty was 71 cents! That's less than the 75 cents a medium sale makes if sold with credits at CanStock's site.
Did something change with Fotosearch prices - or with our royalties on those sales?
I had decided to live with CanStock's low royalties because of the intermittent high value sales from Fotosearch, but if those are actually going to be lower than CanStock itself, the deal there is looking pretty unappealing to me.

I am usually with Jo Ann when it comes to CanStock. But I had, too, a nice surprise just last week. $51 for one DL, woman on a playground sitting on a swing. Nothing extraordinary - and still a success. Who'd have thought!

I always have the attitude that everything can sell. Just dont forget variation. There are many simple things in my port that makes sales. I would miss them if i would think different.

There was a time when I spread my port out to any agency with a bit of sales potential. 3-4 years ago that was.
also canstock got my pictures and I even got a payout from them.
It was a nice little community where the owner himself asked us to donate free pictures.
Else most of the time people were appraising everyting and eachother. Whooray I have a sale and such.
Thats not good enough for me, I expect an agency to perform better than that, and produce a lot more sales.
So now I have withdrawn my port from all the low performing agencies, and I only sell at 3-4 places.
Have my income gone down? No.
But the hassle has.
Im the sort of guy that activily reacts and pull my port, even if it takes many hours, if I get the wrong feeling.

I can understand not wanting to waste time uploading to low selling agencies but can't see where the hassle is in keeping your port active. Maybe I'm an optimist but I always think maybe one of those low selling sites will start to do well for me - in one case (which shall remain nameless it has :-X). My top 5 account for 76% of income the next 10 which I upload to when I get round to it about 23.5% and the remaining 5 which are inactive the remainder.
