Title: Trowing the towel
Post by: Nemo1024 on September 02, 2008, 09:07
I am about to give up on CanStock. Only 12 sales over the last year and a half, and now the proportion of rejection, which try to rival Fotolia's. Almost all my files (28) from the last shoot were accepted by IS, SS, ST and 123RF; Fotolia accepted 11, which is a record. Now, CS have not finished reviewing all the files, but I have got now a string of rejections of "Out of focus" or "Not unique enough" for files which were gladly approved by the others...

Rejections, combined with non-existent sales are about to make me pull the plug and delete my portfolio from CS (even loosing $7.25). Would anyone want to dissuade me?

No :)

I left CanStock early this year after being with them since October 2004. I had my portfolio on other sites where it was earning nicely and there I could barely make a payout every 6 months. I wanted to believe Duncan was going to turn things around (and there were several efforts at that during the time I was there) but it didn't happen.

you are right, there are no earnings at Canstock, but its easy to upload to CS. So I continue to upload...   I see it as a kind of investment... may be CS will grow in the future.
hm, by the way... do you think earnings at CS will rise or fall duringe the nex 12 months?

According to my estimations, I will reach payout in 2017.... :)
gunnar3000, if the sales at CS drop any further during the next 12 months, they will become negative...

Canstock is consistently 0-1% of my income from stock.  I have threatened to quit uploading there a bunch of times and every time my sales spike for a bit and I hang in there.

At this point, with the upload process as easy as it is, I keep uploading when I have free time and the sales keep trickling in.  I get a few payouts a year there so not a complete waste of time in my case.

I'm still there, though haven't uploaded in months.  It's a pity, the site had a friendly atmosphere, but it seems to be run very amateurishly and I believe there is little space for this now.  Ok, they are a small business, not K-mart, but still, something's wrong.  BigStock and FP are also small businesses yet they perform much better, at least for me.

Adelaide

I pulled out of there quite awhile ago.  Even with easy uploading, it wasn't worth the time due to the extremely low volume of sales.

easy uploading??? have things changed in the last few months.

Last time i tried, you had to select catagories for the images.  They had an automatic catagory thing but you still had to go through the images one at a time reloading the page for every image!!..

Sites like crestock, stockxpert, 123RF etc where you have one big page with all your images and click the mouse ONCE is what i call a fast upload.

I had 1 single sale in 2008... I didn't upload anything for several months, and finally decided to delete my account too.

This is so unfair to leave us with the question at the tip of our tongues, so I beg you to tell us more!

I am still at $7.25 there and a complete portfolio - too lazy to delete :) With the Fotosearch news I am willing to give CanStockPhoto another chance. Say 1/2 a year more....

Ive canned canstock.
have closed my account here tonight, reviewers suck, i can take rejection as good as the next microstocker, but when  they rejected every photo i submitted and these are images that have been
through the review process at is, ss, ft, dt, StockXpert, 123, cs, fp, StockXpert and cc, then i know the problem is not with my photos, its with a reviewer that does not no his job. good riddance scamstock, they are not worth the time and effort.

I thought they were sold. I still get a sale about once every millenium. I was hoping the new buyers might have plans.

I am hoping for more sales from this buyout too.  Maybe it's too soon to see results.

I think Nemo is right that by 6 months or so we should know if there is improvement.  Hopefully sooner of course :)

They were sold?

I pulled out earlier this year after reaching my second payout in three years.  Too many subscription sales and no increase in commissions during that time convinced me.

I just seems logical to give them some time and see how the new owners do. I have over 600 pics there so few more months will not kill me.
