Upload Rejects

I use Microstock Plus to upload my files. It has the obvious benefit of one upload to many dozens of agencies (if you wish -- I choose 14 out of their 30 or so).
It has another benefit though, in that it highlights if title / description / keywords are invalid for any of the agencies. Basically, it just flags that file as "not ready" for agency. Click just the one media file and it gives more details, and tells you what the problem is.
Some agencies want some special metadata for video before they will accept them. Some agencies have restrictions on titles / descriptions that others do not, etc.
I simply 'select all agencies' then 'select all media' (that I want to send to agencies). If all the agencies show all the media files as 'ready', I then press the magic button to send them all off. If any of the agencies show one or more media as 'not ready,' I then spend a couple minutes to correct those issues first.
Doing this has reduced the problems you mention down to pretty much nothing. When it does happen (maybe half a dozen files out of the last several hundred uploaded), I don't bother wasting time deleting them from the agency. They will drop out after 90 or 120 days (or whatever each agency has specified) in which it has not been 'completed.' Don't waste time on them, but that doesn't mean you have to stop sending to that particular agency.

Several other agencies have keywording tips suggesting we use relevant metaphorical adjectives and emotions associated with the photo. CS is the only one that rejects photos because they can't physically see "success" or "sad" in the photo. Maybe that's why they also can't sell photos.

I was sick to death with these keyword rejections on Canstock, so I recently emailed them about it.
I do not spam and work hard to pick relevant keywords, so it was frustrating to have Istock, Shutterstock, Adobe, Alamy, etc.etc. approve the images that are constantly rejected by Canstock.
They responded by telling me that their requirements are that we add between 5-15 keywords only. I have several thousand images with way more than 15 keywords approved on Canstock, and new submissions also have way more. I think there are some reviewers who stick to the rule and some who don't, making the contributor experience there one of the most frustrating in the industry.

If your images have keywords/descriptions that don’t apply to the image, then that is keyword spamming. Good for canstock for rejecting and shame the other sites for just letting them through.

Shame on you for castigating a photographer without more information. CanStock has done the same thing to me, even though the description and keywords describe exactly and only what is in the image. It is a glitch in their system or a problem with their reviewers - you should get the full story before pointing fingers.

Calm down buddy. You missed the word If. The very first word in my post. WE don’t have all the information...we never do. Yikes. Ease off on the coffee dude. Maybe not a glitch in their system. Did you submit more than 15 keywords? Most of the other sites accept more than that. So according to canstock’s terms, you were spamming.

Thanks. I do not sparm keywords. I take pains to do my keywords making sure they are relevant to the subject.
Maybe Cathyslife should ask herself why all other sites accept my uploads? :)

What any site accepts is totally irrelevant to what any other site accepts. Good for you that you aren’t spamming. The sites are full of files from contributors who are.
