copy and pasted from my blog

CanstockPhoto  has been known to have a pretty slow upload process and relatively poor earnings compared to the big 6.  However, the tables seem to be turning recently with a couple of big changes.  Whether the changes are a result of Canstock recently being acquired by Fotosearch is uncertain, but whatever the reason, it is good for the photographer.  Several photographers are reporting significantly higher earnings and most importantly (and recently) this exciting news: A new upload system  This is big news for anyone who doesn't have their portfolio on Canstock yet.  Before the recent change it would take several hours to get a few hundred images online and with less than stellar performance in regards to sales, the profitability of doing so was up for debate.  With the new change, the hours have been reduced to minutes, and with higher sales things are looking up.  Well done Canstock!  It is great to see a site making changes which improve the situation for the photographer  :)

The new upload system is still in beta, but I have been able to test it last week with tons of photos and it worked flawlessly.  The changes are as follows

    * You do not need to categorize images; Canstock will do that for you
    * Model releases can be applied in a batch, with a page of 100 images at a time
    * Added the ability to upload a photo of each model, for quick identification when selecting releases
    * Images can be submitted a page (20 images) at a time, instead of one at a time
    * The interface is faster than ever

To get in on the action, go here

Agree. I stopped uploading to CS some one and a half years ago, but after seeing the earnings potential with the PPD DLs from Fotosearch, I'm uploading all I have. Very nice development  :)

I stopped uploading there because 95% of my sales are 25 subs... What about yours?

I'm ready to upload my photos but not at this sub's price!

I hadn't been uploading at CanStockPhoto for a long time, then when I read about their Fotosearch deal I tried to upload some new vectors. At first the process wasn't just slow, it was glacial so I gave up after about 10 files. When I tried again later, the upload page had a different, look but it would not accept eps files at all.

But after reading this I went back and looked and I  have had a spate of $1.00+ sales there in the the last few days! Guess I'll have to keep trying to get some new vectors up.

yeah, i still get a number of sub sales (aren't they $.30?)  but there is also the odd fotosearch $20 sale which makes up the difference.

I'm currently uploading all last year's stuff but I didn't see the new MRF section. On a side note, it's always dangerous to leave a site before it's really dead. Some people canceled their CanStockPhoto account a year ago for the miserable subscription sales. Now with the takeover, hell broke lose with the ELs. It's something to think about when leaving YAY or MP...

Update: yes, you have to enter by the "beta". Great programming, as always, from Duncan. IT-wise, CanStockPhoto has always been amongst the best.

Yes you're right  ;) , my last sub sales gave me 0.30$ but untill last year, they earned me 0.25$ each.

And I agree with FD that I don't understand why one would close an account somewhere...  Stop uploading and forget about it! When you check couple of months later you may have some interresting sales!

Why thank you, but I can't take full credit on this one, we have a team of very talented people working behind the scenes.

And not to be a tease, but we have some more very exciting additions planned for the near future  ;)

The reason for leaving the site for many was the feeling that the subscriptions that were being offered were undercutting other sites by moving prices downwards at a time when others were going the opposite direction.

If things have changed for the better, then maybe its time for a re-think...

Well that was a valid reason, but it was the very first site I was accepted on late 2005, so there were some emotional reasons to stay. I'm glad they found some untapped business potential finally.

Hi Einochi,

Our photographer applications usually only take a few hours - so I checked your account and you were indeed accepted. So welcome :)

Im looking forward to this new upload system (I havent tried it yet). I actually didnt think the old way was that bad compared to other sites. Things really seem to be picking up at CanStockPhoto.
