I bought my first mac (after over 25 years as PC user). I must say, I'm really impressed by the engineering, quality and portability of the computer (its a 2011 13" macbook pro). Portability was my main concern. It took about 15 minutes to get used to the new operating system. Really user friendly.

Can any mac users recommend useful photo related software (other than photoshop and aperture). Anyone shooting tethered on a mac - what software do you use?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I shoot with my macbook pro tethered to my Canon 50D...I use the software that comes with the camera...the EOS utility. I love it...you can control most of the camera settings from the computer, have the image open in RAW, and double check your image and adjust, if necessary. I just use Bridge for photo management, but I will be taking a class soon that will require the purchase of Lightroom and I'm ok with that.

Welcome to Mac.

Use for what? transferring from the camera? Image editing and tweaking? editing EXIF data? I do use Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw but if I didn't have that the Canon software that came with my camera is actually pretty good. There's also GIMP and Graphic Converter for image editing, conversion and EXIF usage.

A search on Google for image editing software for mac will yield surprising results.

Similar problems, Luis, with my i7, 8gb.  The fan starts spinning and processing grinds to a halt.  Maybe contacting HP is a good idea?

PS:  I'm using Firefox.  As soon as I close and reopen, the problem stops.

I've used the eos software that Cathy recommends, and it does work well. I mostly use Capture pro, which gives you an incredible range of options for controlling the image from the raw capture. Someone in my studio just got the new macbook pro, and it is remarkable. I have the previous model, which is a workhorse. Good luck with it.
(you HP guys should take a hint ;D  ) Get applecare. The rule is- if you buy you won't need it, otherwise...
