I'm watching a blue-ray movie on a 1080p television right now. Each images really feel like watching a picture. I did watched some pictures on HD television before using a playstation 3, and the result is amazing. But I can't zoom in the image.

I know the HD television might not be calibrated for editing. Also the resolution/inch is lower than the good computer monitors. But I wonder if anyone tried to plug their computer to a television and edit images for stock photography before.

Also most television have a better contrast ratio than most monitors. Then I wonder what we can achieve with this technology...

There are some flatscreen monitors around that have a TV interface and they are called hybrids. I think they have the quality of a PC monitor. I stumbled upon the P2370HD LCD end last year, but I don't know if it's good enough for Photoshop.

Here's a good site for Blu-Ray screenshots:

Most of the HD television screens have a PVA panel, unlike the the samsung syncMaster P 2370 who has a TN panel... to be honest the P 2370 is actually not a TV screen, it's a computer monitor with build in TV tuner.  Both Samsung an LG made a lot of those computer screens, mainly for children rooms... two appliances for the price of one...:-)

Want a computer monitor with PVA panel, the Samsung SyncMaster F 2380 is a fairly good choice for little money but don't expect the same quality and performance you will find in the higher priced segment.
