am i crazy or what, tell me?

i been through 3 boxes of colour hp cartridges printing at best photo glossy premium plus paper and i got at best 15 gallery prints of 8 by 10.

the box says 150 prints. my black is still good, but the colour cartridge
is empty after print # 10,11,... 15 at best.

if i print the isolated shots with white copyspaces, i could get to as high as 20..25  8.5 by 11 prints, hopefully.
but my full colour images ? 10 prints.

is there a printer expert here with a way to show me how i can get more prints with less wastage. i feel i am polluting the environment by buying printers instead of colour cartridges, as it cost less to get a new printer than a new cartridge.

help much appreciated.

Purchase a dye Sub if you have a lot of colour content do print. What you are talking about is one of my biggest bug bears with manufacturers of ink jet printers. The printers are sold for next to nothing but all the big money is made on the consumables.

At least buy a printer with separate colour cartridges. With 3-colour cartridges, you throw away lots of ink when one of the colours are empty. As mentioned above, printers are cheap, ink is not. When I bought my Canon 4500 (Great printer, and relatively economical with 3 colours and 2 blacks), the ink that came with the printer had a retail price of almost 70% of the printer price, so the printer was more or less free.

That'd be dye sublimation, produces magnificent A4 prints but my Kodak 1400 is very prone to dust bunnies.
