I want to buy a laptop for video processing in 4k and 6k. Advise configuration or model?
This configuration is already outdated:?

- Intel Core I7-10750H;
- 32 gb (DDR4)
- SSD 512 gb.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, Intel UHD, 6 gb GDDR6

You already have DDR5 in memory and SSD NVMe PCIe 4.0 (fast and the best for photogammetry). i do recommend RTX 4080 QHD. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series are really better. They are powered by NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture that delivers a quantum leap in both performance and AI-powered graphics. if you also do graphics you can take advantage for ray tracing and FPS games with the lowest latency if you like to play games too.

Anyway for a laptop a possible solution for really smooth 4K and a reasonable good 6K video would be something like the Portable Razer Blade 16 i9 13950HZ 32GB DDR5 1TB RTX 4080 QHD+ 240Hz W11. It already comes with 4 USB ports (C and A 3.2 Gen 2) , 1 hdmi 2.1 and 1 UHS-II card reader.

I put here the specifications of the model I mentioned:

Intel Core i9-13950HX 24-Core Processor (Turbo up to 5.5 GHz, 36 MB Cache)
Windows 11 Home Operating System
Memory 32GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM
Storage 1 TB SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4
Audio 4 speaker array (tweeters x 2, sub x 2)
16" QHD+ display (2560 x 1600), 240Hz, 16:10
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics with 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM memory
Up to 2280MHz Boost Clock up to 175W with TGP (Total Graphics Power)
Interface 1 x Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) (100W USB PD 3)
1 x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 supports power delivery up to 100W
3 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2
1 x HDMI 2.1
1 x UHS-II SD Card Reader
Razer Chroma per-key RGB keyboard, N-Key rollover, US Layout
Wireless Wi-Fi 6E Network AX211
Dimensions 21.99 x 244 x 355 mm
Weight 2.45 Kg

In 2019 I bought two high quality Mac pro laptops (when I had some money). They are still working well today.

I would look for a computer with a very good graphics card and memory if you are planning to do anything with video.

Working with Topaz Video ai is quite a challenge even for small clips.

Next year I might have to look into an upgrade or maybe even a trade in for a better system.

For video my computers are getting slow.

I had my first Mac for 8 years. My second Mac lasted 10 years and I still use it for some legacy stuff that doesn't work with Sonoma. I bought this Mac - 13", M2 chip, 16Gb memory and 1Tb disk - about 18 months ago and it does everything I want.

I don't do video and this setup is absolutely perfect for my needs.

iMac is the best

I hear their voices, Baaa, Baa, Apple, iMac, iPhone, softly murmuring in unison, as a flock, Baa, Baa, baaaa

M3 Starts at $1,299 but what you will want and need costs about $2,700 and up. Note: you can't adjust the height or angle of the screen? It does tilt a little.

Answer: PC

Given that Apple only have 16% of the US personal computer market (2023, Q4), one wonders who the sheep are. :P

And just over 18% of the world uses iPhones, but reading the web and the news, you would think, it's the biggest, best invention of all time. Every new release, the loyal sheep, line up to buy an upgrade. Until recently we didn't have the right to repair our own phones. What Apple does, is makes the old products obsolete by just saying, they are, and then doesn't support them anymore.

I have an iPhone, I think it's 100 times better than any Android phone I ever owned. Reliable, works, doesn't lock up. Good design and interface. If someone asked me what phone system is best, I'd say iPhone. That's as a phone and for Apps.

But I'm not going to answer every question that anyone asks about technology with "Anything Apple of course".  :)

I've worked on an iMac, (in some Windows simulator mode) they are excellent, fast, bright, pretty much, all around wonderful. MAC laptop displays for many years, were far ahead of anything else. But modern PCs, the processors, the graphics cards, and everything else, is equal, and sometimes better.

"The satisfaction of belonging to a cohesive group leads people to suppress their inner doubts. Loud voices overpower quieter ones, dissent is quashed, and the outcome is flawed..." That describes the devoted Apple cult members. They can only praise anything that Apple produces.

All of my professional life I worked with PCs starting with the IBM XT around 1983 (before that I worked with IBM mainframes). Around 2008 I got my first Macbook for personal use and I loved it. It was much better than the Lenovo laptops the company issued us with.

I'm not one of those guys who lines up for the upgrade. I'm on Macbook No. 3 in 16 years and probably won't upgrade this one for another 5-7 years. So that will be 3 in 21-23 years. So long as the machine meets my needs and doesn't fail I'll keep it. Macbook No2 still works and I still use it for a couple of apps. But it didn't have enough memory or hard disk and the battery was done which is why I upgraded. Who knew in 2013 that I would need more than 8GB  memory and 250Gb hard disk?

I'm really not a gear-head and that goes for phones, computers and cameras. I didn't join the rush for the Nikon Z8 or Z9 either. I'll upgrade my D500 in due course but, right now, it still does the job (I also have a Z7ii but it does a different job).

58% of smartphones in  us are apple, but  70% android global which may be why there's more apple hype here.  since the early days of mac & PC the latter gave us chance to examine & tweak the machine (we discovered 3 hidden colors and did simple animation by screen shifting which ibm never promoted [we'd found unused graphic memory].) apple gave us nothing but had better marketing & gave free apples to schools.

i bot my first smartphone only 6 years ago - android, and anecdotally have never heard of anything iphone had that i couldn't do, on android, and the later doesnt require approval by apple to get into the store - so more innovation & choices.
