I have 17 images at crestock and over the past year or so sold 24... so not great but probably better than a lot of 'low earning' sites... and i am considering uploading more of my portfolio there.

so the question - Do you have images on crestock - and is it worth it?
Their upload process seems pretty smooth now (like stockxpert / albumo) so it wouldn't be too much work.

I do despite high rejection rate and low sales.as you said it's kind of easy to upload and I am curious to see their future.
actually it is a  nicely designed site I like it,I hope things will be better there.but rejection sometimes drives you nut!

I have 79 images with them and have sold 55.

Their approvals take quite a long time now (there was a time when they were being done in 24 hours) and sales are very slow.

Also, as you know, they are incredibly picky. My rejection rate there is the highest of any agency - running at about 50% of my submissions.

But I keep uploading to them, slowly, because I think it keeps me on my toes. It's quite a challenge to get an approval there, and I enjoy challenges.

A year ago, I sent them a test batch of my best sellers (then) at other sites. They rejected 12/20 with the blunt reason that they were not looking for that kind of shots. I emailed them back that if they were not looking for my kind of shots, I was not looking for a site like them. That's it.

Maybe they changed acceptance policy now, but I never checked again.

I still do and plan to continue uploading there my best shots. I had a wholel batch accepted (100%) yesterday so it looks like that the rejection decreased. I got 4 sales so (0 in July) this month with a portfolio of 42 images.
Review time are shorter too and for me  they are doing better than LO,CanStockPhoto and BigStock, looks like they are on the good track...

i had give them a try early this year.
Yes, it was true about their acceptance policy, at list a couple of months ago.
After 3 months and 0 sales i deleted the 30 images i had there.
For me it was a waste of time.
Wish everyone a better luck with them.

Thanx so much for your info. I guess it's very hard to score under LO and CanStockPhoto ;-) Maybe give it a try again. A year is a century in stock...

I upload there still but I get annoyed everytime I get the approval results.
It's not that they are picky, picky is good, it is the way they do it and the attitude they have towards the contributors.  I can't understand their policy. Sometimes they accept pictures no one else have acccepted and then reject whole batches of images that are bestsellers on other sites. There doesn't seem to be any logic or consistency behind it. There are other picky sites such as StockXpert ans SS, but there I can agree most of the time with their "pickiness". Those guys are picky about the correct stuff. I feel that Crestock policy is some way of sticking to their "we are the pickiest of the all"- policy. I feel they loose a lot of sales and good will because of it.

I gave them a year and gave up, their "Not what we are looking for" rejections combined with low sales drove me nuts.  The only ones who were worse IMHO were Imangevortex in terms of acceptance.

Josh from Crestock here,

Just quickly, to let you guys know of some of the changes which may help you in knowing whether to upload to Crestock or not.

We introduced a resizing system in the first half of the year, this allows us to uphold our (admittedly) high technical standards while still not letting too many good stock pictures slip by.

We've been recruiting new inspectors since the beginning of summer this year and have a good team, a mix of experienced microstock photographers and young photographers.

Our standards are less focussed on the technical aspect than they have been in the past. We're also very open to feedback and like to establish good photographer relations which is essential to our continued growth.

We've got a great new site packed full of new features thats going to be released once it comes out of beta testing in a few weeks. Keep an eye out for that. Btw, thats partly the reason for a few days delay with inspections, its temporary.

Look forward to your submission, don't hesitate to contact us with any queries.

Josh / Manager of Inspections @ Crestock.com

thanks for the post josh.

I hope you stick around here - I know feedback from the agencies themselves are valued by a lot of people - including me.

I stopped uploading (I think I have 60 images there) because the vast majority of sales are subscription and give me only 25c. While I don't see a different trend there, I wait.

Regards,
Adelaide

Thanks for jogging my memory, leaf - I uploaded a bunch of stuff there ages ago, but hadn't finished them off.

I have to say that things have changed at Crestock, and for the better. The uploading process is now very streamlined, the review time very fast (only a few minutes in my case), and the reviewers very reasonable (all images in my batch of 20+ were accepted).

I had such an easy time of it that I'm going to upload again. Way to go, Crestock!

I agree the uploading is very nice now and the site looks good so they have done some nice work there.

I don't think reviews are especially fast - I am guessing yours were reviewed quickly because they sat at the front of the line (being uploaded several months ago)

I still submit to them, and although they are annoying at times, they are improving. Their pay for subscription images is too low though, at 0.25. My average per download is now under 0.53 and sinking. To me, that is more discouraging than the low acceptance rate.

Another thing that could need some improvements: Like FT, they send out a mail for each download. However, the mail doesn't link to the image page that shows the downloads and download prices for that image. To find out how much was earned I have to find the image in the downloads list and follow the link from there. Too complicated.

I've got 60 or so images there but decided pretty early on they were a waste of time to be honest

Yes, they definitely have low-volume sales. Their published top ten sellers have only 30, 28, 23, 19, 19, 18, 17, 17, 16, and 16 sales.

I've made 76 sales there, most at only 25c. Their uploading system is pain-free enough that I've resumed uploading in hopes that I can reach their $100 payout mark by this time next year. I know it's not much, and not worth the effort, but I'll stick on a few more hundred or so images to coax things along before leaving them alone again.

Thanks sharply_done, we've been noticing your latest uploads and we're happy to have your contributions.

Epixx, full sales statistics and an overview of image sales is available in the new (still in beta testing) site version. We've taken that into consideration, though i'm not sure i'm at liberty to say anymore about the new site. Just keep an eye out early next month. ;)

Sales are rising sharply, and will continue to do so even more in the near future. Hopefully, photographers will start to notice the effects of that soon.

Thanks for the updates Josh, I have a question though: I submitted few batches  of pictures to Crestock in  its early days and a mots of  them were rejected . Since you changed your criterias do you think I can try to upload few of them ?
Cheers
Laurent

:) thats a pretty tough question. We've been asked the same a few times before. As a general rule, I would say its best not to upload your rejections again. Many, many pictures (maybe not specifically your own) were rejected for good reason, and we have enough pictures coming in that we don't want to be inspecting the same pictures again.

However, in your case, and to whomever else it may concern... Select a few of your best, and upload them. And, see how they go, if they go well maybe select a few more, etc. etc. Though for your own sake, its not something I would suggest spending a lot of time with, maybe just next time you've got a batch ready to upload, add a few of the older ones. A few photographers have been doing this lately, and it seems to be working quite well for them.

Thanks Josh for your reply, in my case it will be 10-20 pisc at the most anyway so I will follow your recommendations

Cheers!

I have next to given up loading to Crestock. They reject far too many and the effort to upload outways the number they select.  I have over a 90% acceptance at all the other sites, but I have somewhere around 40 or 50% at Crestock.  I have also only had .25 downloads ....never any more....so after a year...I have a whole 20 some dollars.

If I ever get bored and have free time I may upload one here and there....just for the laugh if they reject it.

One photo that they rejected in my first batch was an Italian vineyard photo...probably my favorite photo .....It has sold several times now for EL's for unlimited copies....yet they didn't want it????  go figure.

It's good that changes are in the pipeline at Crestock, but it seems there is so much negativity surrounding acceptance rates and number of downloads. That is what is preventing me from contributing there.

However, I would consider submitting if the minimum payout level was lower, I think this is a big factor for many of the lower 'sales by volume' sites. I understand how this benefits the site, but I think there needs to be a reality check to encourage more of the medium size portfolio submitters who make up quite a large proportion of the total pool. I think that this would be a worthwhile positive step.

There is an emotional side on it too. The way CS bluntly rejected good stuff and accepted bad stuff just gave me bad vibes. It's OK to upload to a low paying site with a high payout, as long as you get that warm (perhaps fake) feeling that you are appreciated, like on LO. CS gave me the feeling I was crap. Maybe that changed now, but for me this was the face and attitude of CS:
