Title: Crestock uploads
Post by: josh_crestock on October 08, 2007, 01:22
Good morning microstockers,

In the past month at Crestock, we've seen a doubling and close to a tripling in the amount of submissions coming in. The quality of the submissions has also raised significantly also. This is great, and we'd like to thank you and congratulate you on your efforts.

However, the recent surge has caught us by surprise a little bit, whilst we're recruiting the right amount of help to inspect your uploads, that takes a few weeks to come into effect. We ask for a small amount of patience while we're striving setup the framework to give you the fastest turnaround from your uploads in the industry.

Thankfully, we've had zero technical problems and this is just down to a lot of new people investing a small amount of time and their photos in Crestock. And, guys, we really appreciate the momentum with which you're all uploading, so keep uploading and we'll try and rise to the challenge.

Best Regards/Med vennlig hilsen,

Josh
The Crestock Team

Josh,
I had a few technical problems uploading some stuff last week, a lot of files went through the process but there's no image attached when I try to complete the process, and 24 of my files said 'out of memory'.
I did send two messages to your support but haven't had any reply yet.

RTimages,

We've processed that batch today, though, unfortunately all we could really suggest there would be to try uploading those images again. It sounds as though it was most likely an isolated incident. However, if it happens again, let support know so that we can send a report to the programming team.

Hope you have a better time of it next time round.

Josh

Thanks for the reply, it was a large batch and now I've looked at the rejection page they all say the same thing 'no image attached', I'll have a go with some smaller batches to see if that works.

Is it my impression (or my mistake taking notes otherwise), or have older rejections been approved?  And I mean really old, because I haven't uploaded in months!

Adelaide

Yep, it's true.

Thats true, madelaide. We have a quality control on inspections, so, we constantly are checking thru uploader's portfolios of rejected photos searching for good photos that have slipped thru the inspection process.

We believe having a high standard is important to building a good collection of photos. Though quality control on that is a very important part of the process. Unhappy contributors is really bad business.

While, under optimal circumstances, we should send an email out every time we review or approve some rejections... though we don't always have the time, especially when its a matter of 1 or 2 pictures.

Best Regards,

Josh

Are you saying that you keep in the  database of photos that have already been rejected?  What if the contributer has sold one of those refused photos exclusively elsewhere and you've now made it available in your database?

I don't actually sell at Crestock so maybe it's not my place to comment on a Crestock thread, but Josh, aren't you opening yourself up to some legal consequences?

That seems like a worthy point. We'll look into this a bit more. Though, I can't imagine it being too much of a problem as contributors are free to remove pictures at will, before it becomes an issue.

In all cases where the rejected pictures are from a few months ago get reviewed, an email should be sent notifying the uploader. Though reviewing pictures from months ago happens very rarely, and usually only at the uploaders request.

The quality control happens more within a day or two of the initial inspection, where theres no issue of the picture becoming exclusive..

Thanks for your feedback, we welcome further thoughts on this.

Josh,

I received no message about the approvals, I only noticed it because, upon checking the new site, I saw I had 66 images online, while I was sure I had only 60, and noticed some had just a couple of views.

A good surprise anyway, of course.  Feel free to re-evaluate other rejections...

Adelaide
