Most days I look at the 'Best Image' and 'Worst Image' on Crestock. It's often revealing. Some of that guy's 'best images' are great. Others ... well, I can't see what he finds impressive in them. They seem pretty mediocre to me.

But the 'worst image' archive is truly amazing. Do people really submit images that bad?

The latest one, on this weekend, is about the most unbelievable I've seen. It appears to be a shot of a house taken through the window of a moving car. But there are a whole load of trees and assorted other roadside vegetation in the way.

Is someone winding Judge Ross up here?

Bateleur,

Their "best image" is generally really good, even if conceptually.  The "worst image" is really a shame.  It is indeed surprising that someone submit things like that and, moreover, agrees in having that shown to the world.

But... why is this message under IS forum?  I thought it would say Judge Ross had moved to IS.  :)

Ooops ... sorry. my inexperience. I didn't realise that it had to be allocated to a Canstock forum, and I can't see how to do that now.

I'm not sure if I like this Ross-guy. One thing is the best photo thing, but is it really necessary to show all those bad ones? Apparently, it doesn't help, since they are still getting them.

Btw., I wonder what he would say about this one. Check who's the contributor  ;D

Hi,

I got two best images of the day one in December and other this month (January 2007)
It make me feel good as it is always great to see our work pointed out as good. Unfortunately I only saw 2 sells from the first one and none from the second.

So I like the best image thing if we look at it from the ego point if view.
Also, I had the privilege to see some great portfolios through this. And maybe I would never see them if there was no best image of the day.
The worst image, I never got one elected (at least they never notified me of the fact), and I really do not see the point, they always get junk and i guess most of the contributors are aware of the most common mistakes those pictures present, but maybe I'm wrong.

Congratulations on getting not one ...but two best images. That's great! Well done.

I must admit, if I got a 'best image' it would give my ego a boost too. I live in hope ... and in hope of getting a payout there someday. I guess it will be sometime in 2017 at the rate things are going.

Thanks

Yeah, one payout by 2017 will be great for me too.
Must start thinking where to spend the $100 by 2017, maybe in a candystore if I can afford it.  ;D ;D ;D

I was thinking about spending the money on a bus trip downtown, but I have this on my budget for 2012 already. Do you think that I'm too optimistic?

Crestock seem to be down btw.

2012? I think you are optimistic.  Since I joined them March 2006 a total of 8 of my images were selected as best image of the day.  Despite this and an interview published prominently on their web site, very few sales. Good for the ego? Yes.  Good for my pocket? No.

I'm happy as long as none of my photos end up as "Today's worst image". I did a calculation, and with the current speed, I will reach payout within the summer of 2009 (I've been there since last summer and have 23 dl's). On the other hand, if I increase my portfolio at the same constant rate as until now, it will probably be much faster, maybe even this year   ;D

I'm doing even worse at Canstock, and Bigstock is not a big winner for me either, although I have much bigger portfolios at those two.

Speaking of Crestock, there is an interesting hot debate going on there:
