I hope you have better luck than I did, 1 download in a year, just recently deleted my portfolio and closed my account...who knows maybe too soon?  ???

Oh, so it's YOU causing their current slowdown...  ;D No wonder their site's slow right now, what with having to slog through a couple thousand pics...  ;)

I have sold a few and had some EL's, still a long way off the top 9 sites but I will stick with them for a while and hope for the best.  Yaymicro came good this year so perhaps Cutcaster can surprise me in 2010?

I closed my account both with YAY and Cutcaster this week. YAY didn't come good at all for me, just 11 sales and 11 euro. I never was notified of their mysterious third party sale so for me the time uploading there was a pure loss. Exit YAY, requiescat in pace.

CC gave some sales in the begin, but after the repair of the search engine, and putting some time in searching on relevant keywords, I found out that the big guys (Yuri, Monkey, Io, ...) are all aligned in front of us small shrimps. So Rinder will do well. Again, a lot of time wasted uploading for nothing. Exit CC.

It's hard to cut ties with very nice people, especially with Zym next year, but a man has to do what a man has to do.

Live is to short to dance with non-selling women.  :-\

I am sorry you feel this way or think your research proves this bc I can categorically say it is TOTAL BS. No one contributor gets preference in the search results.

I've had sales but they are all editorial ... and all the same subject matter.  The good thing is the pricing and the payout level.  Two sales get me a payout.

The stuff is online.  Better chance of selling there than on my hard drive.   ;D

John, you said that "no one contributor gets preference on the search result", but I tend to agree with FD-amateur on his view, prior me closing my account I did a few keyword searches and all I could find on the first 20+ pages of the search was the "BIG GUYS" photos, lots of them being very similar to each other, as a matter of fact, that and the lack of sales was what made up my mind in deleting  400 photos from CC...sorry bud, but no BS in that observation from FD-a.  ;)

Don't the "big guys" photos fill the first pages on most sites because they sell more?

They do, but I've also notice that the mix of their photos and ours, "the small fish" are better balanced, so at least we have some kind of a chance on making a sale or two...I know I do.

I think it somewhat depends on subject matter and/or key words.  I wonder, too, how being an "exclusive" image affects the search.  All my sales, in addition to being editorial, were exclusive.

I've also noticed that I seem to have become a "cheerleader" for CC.   :-[ 8)

i've asked this same question elsewhere on the forum, but received no replies. john, can you confirm, or deny, if an image's exclusivity favors it in search or sales? it would greatly help me decide where to send my photos. thanks!

Being exclusive or having an image exclusive with us doesn't matter one iota at this point where it shows up in search results.  You do get paid more for it being exclusive. I know why (or think I know) sites give preference to exclusive images. We do not.

Obviously I want exclusive images but until I can prove that Cutcaster can make people a decent living from going exclusive or having an image exclusive with us, i know I will have a hard time getting them.

The big guys may fill more pages bc they have 20-30k images at Cutcaster while m@m has 400. It's that simple.  I can't be any more transparent when I say EVERYONE IS EQUAL and NO ONE IS FAVORED in search preference. This is a fair and open marketplace.  Period.

Can I be favored for leading the cheers?   ;D ;D ;D

What´s the percentage in sales? The big 6 / the 23 other

Is it worth uploading to more than 15 agencies?

If you have a big portfolio that sells well, it is definitely worth uploading to more than the big 6.  If you are taking time to reach payouts with the big 6, it might be a worth concentrating on just them for now.

I've had some decent sales at CC.  Sure, they still have a long way to go to reach the top 9 sites.  I'm sticking with them.  Give them enough time and things will pick up.

John--for me the site was slow to load.
