Hi guys,

Just noticed something very confusing in DP. With the new uploading interface they've reduced the categories from 3 to 2. Now, when I look at my older images as buyer - they still have their 3 categories on their pages. But if I look at the same images in editing mode - it shows only the first 2 categories (cause now the interface is for only 2 categories).

But what is even more confusing - now the 'Vector' category is completely missing in the category lists and since my images are vectors, I have always chosen one of the 3 categories to be 'Vector'. Now, when I look at my older images in editing mode not only that the categories are just 2 - one of which is 'Vector', but when I go to the editing box to the left - it shows only the first category, and the second category is blank (which makes sense, since there is no 'Vector' in the list anymore to choose from).

So, I was wondering how this mess actually affects the searching and indexing in the site. Obviously they have removed 'Vectors' from the categories since one can choose 'vectors' within the search filters. But which are the 'true' categories of an old image - the ones which show on the image page or the ones in editing mode? And if I should go through all my images - image by image - and choose the second category for them which is now blank in edit mode...

It looks more like a 'vectors contributor's problem, but the reducing of categories from 3 to 2 affects all kinds of images and contributors. So, if anyone else has noticed this problem and has an idea about it, please share. Thanks.

That's been going on since they changed that part of the site.  Not sure when it started as I was offline for a few months.

Might want to email their support about how they handle vector files.  The vector category is also missing from the buyers side category drop down box.  Unless they lumped them all in under the Illustrations category.

I haven't uploaded a vector in nearly two years so you might want to try a site search for one of your images and see how it goes.

Thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking to write to their support too, but wanted to hear of others people's experiences too. And since DP has no forum I've decided to ask here, even though DP is not that popular around here :)

And vectors are in all other categories in DP, simply they don't have a category of their own anymore. One (buyer) can limit one's search to vectors through filters, so vectors don't really need a separate category (as in all other sites as far as I'm aware of).

I do a lot of 3d work now and sometimes I don't select the Illustration category when I submit.  Never had a rejection for wrong category.  So who knows.

Yeah people don't like them and that's their choice but they've been climbing up in my earnings spreadsheet.  Ranking above FT in all but one month this year.  Not a massive earner but pretty steady.
