Although we don't like to think about it - and some people get angry if it's discussed - I think we all realize that if and when SS really ends up controlling the market, they'll totally destroy it.
When you have a monopoly prices usually go up, not down.

I'm taking our point of view, not theirs.   When a monopoly takes hold, prices to buyers go up, but payments to suppliers go down because the suppliers have no more leverage.

Sad part is that we all still submit images to them  :-\
I haven't signed up with DepostPhotos.  I already have enough people giving away my photos, don't need another at this time.

+1 to that. I never signed up with Deposit after reading so many posts like these over the past few years. I don't understand why contributors continue to sell themselves out for companies like this.

I prefer first-hand experience but I do make decisions.

One could argue that it is SS's success with selling at very low prices (for subs) that forces other site to compete on price.

Yep. A classic case of the race to the bottom. And despite good sales on SS, we are all paying the price in the long run.

Wise words.

very wise indeed but there is no other alternative, do you think I should rely on less than 100$ at IS?

Well, I don't know, that's up to you to consider. Certainly, I make much more of 100 per month at istock.

That's exactly what I meant.

I got an EL today for $2.76 and contacted them immediately to tell them to disable my participation in this ridiculous program.
I'm really seething and will consider dropping them completely after my next pay out.

I got one of those $2.64 ELs yesterday too.  I wish I had told them where to stick their "partner sales" before they screwed me over instead of afterward.  Maybe if everybody on the forum with a DP account will contact them to disable this "feature" they will get the message.  But I doubt it.  >:(

Many people that is formerly submitted images.  :)

Part that got me was all the people so happy to get their 25 cents to fill the site and make it viable, when it was about the only pay many would get from them. So, three cheers for the bribe and people who sold out, to enable another sinking agency that takes advantage of the artists.

Dilution of downloads, too many weak agencies based on price alone = race to the bottom, and mysterious low partner program sales that have invaded like a deadly virus. All the happy people who got their payout from DP for a quick buck, helped make this happen.

Stop supporting the people who steal your work and pay you pennies. If nothing else, start a SymbioStock site and collect 100%

Dunno about that.  Low prices are not so bad when coupled with high volumes and SS does provide the occasional EL and high value SOD and even the standard OD pays better than FT & IS with only DT generating an average higher price for these.

Subs are like death and taxes - you can avoid the sites doing subs but doesn't leave much of a market place.  Doesn't mean  you have to upload to low price / low volume sites though.

This cements it for me.  I signed with them a few months ago and had that sinking feeling it was a mistake.  I've got enough issues with the other places that have my work but for the came reasons I pulled out of a couple of others, that's my plan here...beginning today.

opted out of the stupid "partner sales' program awhile ago after I got $2.64 for an EL.

Just got a 'regular' EL last week of over $35 - now thats more like it, albeit it is a rarity to get those.

Yet some major players are getting the 50 percent so I guess demand that from them or drop them!

Okay, I am at bronze level and need almost 4,500 more downloads for my next promotion!  This one company that I will dump in 2014.

I always opt out of partner sites, they're like the "black hole of sales" ;)
