my rpd is 0.37, that is lower then subs on SS!

0.62 is misinformation

No, no and no!, this is the worst agency , 90% is subs for 0.30$,10% is credit sales for 0.44$, never and never  enterprise license, credit sale are rare like panda.
...

Well, I am not saying that I like DP. However, I don't like misinformation.

Here is RPD (return per download) from my portfolio: 0.62 at DP which is higher than FT (0.49), and almost the same as SS. For reference: 123RF 0.94, DT 1.44. This is just microstock ...

Otherwise, I agree. Do not upload to DP! Or even better. Do not upload to any other stock agency. We don't need more competition.

I wish I had never uploaded to this site.  While I have deactivated a good part of my port, it remains concerning that DP keeps deactivated images in their system instead of deleting them. WHY? one wonders ..  :-\

Inpired by previously posted rpd calculations, I just made my own. I ordered the agencies by how much money I make per upload (that includes uploading images that get rejected later). Even though depositphotos accepts almost everything, they are still my second last place.

Here is my reality:

  • Shutterstock (not surprising)
  • Dreamstime (they reject a lot, but my images sell well)
  • Istock (still doesn't really reflect effort, given how painful the sumbission process itself is)
  • Photodune (if they rejected less they would easily score better than istock)
  • Canstock (wasn't like that before, but I got lots of sales lately)
  • 123rf
  • Fotolia
  • Bigstock
  • Veer
  • Depositphotos
  • Pond5 (I probably set the prices too high over there)

What "misinformation"? Try to delete a pic on DP.  It's impossible. You can't delete any material on DP, even if you close your account. The material will be only "deactivated". Nobody knows, what happens in a few years. But you will not have any control over your work. DP is like facebook, it's like a black hole, There is no way, your material will stay on DTs server as long as DP exist.

Please enlighten me.
Interesting how many words about closing account, deleting files....

Why should I delete files, close account ?
As I said, 40-50$ almost every month on DP is not bad, agree?
DP is just another miserable microstock agency.
Arent we in this microstock world to earn money?

And btw, are you sure if you delete your files on other agencies, this agencies really delete them from partner sites, as well?
NOBODY can track this! And we talked about this problem many times.

It could happen, that you discover your pics for example on Shotshop or other agencies. And you will probably see, that these agencies sale your pictures for a price, say 25 Euro. And than you will recognise, that you get a payout for a simple subscription sale! Could it be a reason for deleting your content?

Shotshop is only one of the "PROBLEMATIC" partner sites.
OPT OUT is solution and also checking from time to time if are your files really deactivated. Mine was after one month of deactivation again active so I e-mailed them again. You can not trust anybody on microstock.
Also, nobody force us to be a contributor on this sites. Collect the money and be happy :)

I dont understand how that is even legal. I havent closed my account there until I have figured out a way to make them delete my images. I dont trust them for one second.

Reading trough this topic and few other ones in history I was wondering a same question and few days ago I asked my lawyer friend the same question just to hear his opinion.

The solution can vary from country to country but its generally like this for any business you can name...

If there is no reason, time limit etc in your current agreement  to remove your work from the site you just have to request it by e-mail or even better in written, with proof they have received it.

You request instant removal and instant delete of all your work on the site BUT you also offer them  to keep your images with a daily fee you charge for each image they decide to keep and it can be any fee you can think of (its your product).  Now just keeping your images is an act on which they are legally agreeing and accepting on your contract offer and they have activated a new contract perfectly valid on any court you can imagine. Now when you receive a notice on any file activity on the site you can send a recipe with a fee from the contract.

Just like when you park the car on parking spot, just the act of parking your car on that spot is the act on which you are legally accepting contract offer between you and the parking company without the need of signing it.

In my opinion that should solve the problem

When I started uploading I hadn't heard all of the negative comments.
I have uploaded around 100 images which brings in $25 - $30/month.
Not great, but not the worst.

$30 with 100 images on DP is outstanding !! Can you images what those images will do on SS? I made $15 on DP with 1000 images.

DP earns me about 1/5 of SS per month.  Def not top 4 but solidly middle tier.

Strange what you all write, because I have just an opposite opinion and I like Deposit Photos.
I submit to 18 (so almost all) agencies and for my portfolio the number of sales and income from Deposit Photos is on the third place after SS and FT but before even Dreamstime and 123RF.
