Over the last month, every single stock video sale I've had at Depositphotos (11) has been reversed. I get an automatic email that I've had a sale of a clip and here's my commission. But then a day or two later I log into Depositphotos and that sale has vanished from the records. After this happened with several sales from one day, I called Depositphotos. The Eastern European woman on the other end said she'd look into it and email me. I later received this email from "Stacey":

My name is Stacey. I am writing to you further to our phone conversation.
The amount of sales can be changed since some of you sales were returned. The payment was not authorized. Bank notified us it as a fraud. That's why we had to refund the payment and all the purchases were returned.
Kind regards,
Stacey

I guess that can happen... once. But it has continued to happen. Every single video sale gets reversed after a day or two. I have to wonder if this is a company scam, a way for them to keep all the money from a sale by telling me they had to cancel the sale but really they're keeping everything for themselves.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Same here. No video sales at all, except for 3 or 4 video sales in the previous months that were instantly reversed. They said it was 'credit card fraud' and the accounts were blocked, but I'm still suspicious.

In the past month I've had six video sales all six were refunded.

It looks like these 'refunds' are common at Depositphotos. This is not good.

I have uploaded some clips to them that i haven't yet submitted due to these issues.I asked them a few weeks ago about these refunds that i keep reading around and they had to say this:

"We have around 2 massive fraud attacks each year. The last one we had
this November
and almost every footage account was affected. It's not connected with
stealing content but is about buyer credit card refunds".

But if everyone here is reporting footage returns during this whole year then i suppose there's no need to look any further. It looks pretty bad as it is.
Time to hit that bulk delete button i suppose. (sigh)

I didn't even know they did video - this is a good reason to not bother.  For stills I get a few refunds per year, the last one was in Sept.  In almost 7 years with SS (and most other agencies) I've never had  a refund - not sure why they occur so commonly with DP, iS and Alamy.  How do they know this isn't  about stealing footage?  Presumably the DL goes through and there is no way to know what happens to the file after that.  I suppose it could be that the sale gets credited but then the credit card is refused and the DL doesn't go through but that is not what they have stated so far.

Sorry to hear about your refunds - it is always disappointing with high-value sales.

The one thing i have to really give props to SS to, is they never have clawbacks for this kind of stuff - even though they probably have to deal with their share of fraudulent purchases, the contributers never get shafted.

With Dp -This kind of thing, how can you know if their telling the truth or not?
Esp when they have already been caught doing underhanded things to contributers in the past.

I will never upload any clips to this agency, until they earn the trust and respect due to contributers - and that looks like a looooooong road ahead

I've had more refunds in the past month at DepositPhotos than all the other agencies combined all year.

I think it's time to hit the Delete button.

Thanks go to KevinM for bringing this to my attention.

I just had a look at my statistics and for the month of December I had 22 returned sales. I think it must be in relation to the fraud issue they had during that time.

Deposit and Fraud show up side by side in the dictionary.

Today I sold a video there. I'm currently eyeing it suspiciously to see when the refund is going to happen.
