Title: New editor is not working properly
Post by: Poncke on January 29, 2013, 17:12
DP had one of the easiest editors in the stock world, but they have a hit and miss this time. The new editor is seriously not easy to work with. Its buggy and its a step backwards.

its not working properly.

I cant submit files with words that are not recognized by the system. It says the words are misspelled but they arent, but I cannot bypass this warning. I cant submit my images now.

the old editor was working like a charm.

I hate this new system.  We were not warned that this would happen or given the choice between the old and new.  It's also very buggy.. I just wrote support and expressed how I didn't like what they done and if I couldn't go back to the way which was easy and simple, to PULL MY WHOLE PORTFOLIO.

Sent them an email too, before I posted here. If more people write, it might help

Taking forever to upload 4 images. Sent my opinion.

Just tried it and it hangs when you click the "submit" button.

It begs the question: Why fix something when it ain't broke? I thought DP had the smoothest, easiest, fastest submission system.

DP. Why not conduct a poll before you make changes. Ask your contributors if they're happy with the process and if 50.1% tell you it needs improvement, then go to work.
I'll bet 95% would've told you they loved the old system.

i give up -- DP's editing was already pretty terrible - bulk editing was only about 20 at a time, and horribly inconsistent --
you'd click to select some or all, edit, then SOMETIMES would stay selected, sometimes would submit too, othertimes wouldnt, and when 'click to submit'    sometimes submits, sometimes doesn’t. box stays checked after submit even when nothing selected  -  reported multiple times but no response

in addition, their silly system won’t accept the characters ; or [] or / in desc or title, but still says alphanumeric only!

the new changes appear to think every place name or area is misspelled - eg, Rajasthan!
i'm not about to waste my time trying to fix their incompetence

but these new bugs are just plain STUPID -- unfortunately, like most agencies they have no idea what a beta test is - they just change something without thorough testingg and dont care what it does.  i just had it wipe out ALL the info in my fies, and even tho i didnt save, it was gone when i tried to come back in - that's my last upload to DP

Now you talking. The upsetting part again in this whole change, we the photographers were not given ANY input to the change.  Also for so little money for XXL downloads (30 cents) each, this will not buy a cup of coffee these days.

It now seem that the micro stock sites are putting their foot in their mouth.  "What goes around comes around".

I agree with everyone on this.  The old way was so smooth, fast and easy.  I even sent them a note letting them know that their editing process was the best.  This new way....yuck!  Two problems I noticed right away.....if there is a typo in the keyword section, it tells you but doesn't allow you to correct it.  Also, what about Extended License?  Is it now the default so it doesn't have to be check for each image?

I sent them a note, politely asking them to revert back to the old way.  Hope they listen.

Just tried it, it's horrible, took ages to submit images and that's even when I realised that the editor part was in the left column. Hope they change it back.

I have been going back and forth with the manager at Depositphoto and they will not change back the uploading process which we all liked so much.  I will not upload any more images there and requested that my portfolio be deactivated.  Another sad day in microstock photography.

Anyway, as I think about it maybe it was for the best that this happened.  The prices there was just too low. (XXXL--.30 cents)

I actually prefer it now that I have worked out how to do it.  Very easy for bulk editing.  The only problem I came across was that I couldn't add a new MR for some reason it didn't work.

Great. I'm glad you're happy but in a democracy the majority rules. If 50.1% of DPs contributors agrees with you then fine. We all accept the changes and continue on. But if you're in the minority the changes should not have taken place.

The issue is, and we all witness it everyday in the forums, is that the companies hold ALL the power yet contributors are an integral part of their business. We are rarely, if ever, consulted yet the very existence of the microstock industry depends on talented, creative professionals.

This is a classic example of how and why Unions are formed. It's just a matter of time before microstock contributors will organize and work as one powerful, cohesive unit.

Your voice is silent. Our voices are loud.
