Hello guys,

Lately I have been receiving emails from Depositphotos asking for personal information and a Photo ID via email, is this for real?

Thanks

They are a shady company. To the OP...look for past threads here about this company and read up. They have been shady from day 1. You might think twice about contributing.

Yes unfortunately it's for real, they will do it every time you choose a different payment method or change your email for payouts, thus you have to go through verification process again by sending them your photo ID.

This looks more like a security feature to save contributors from hack or fraud.. which looks fine to me.

I don't think a hacker would request a payout using your email address which is already registered and verified... Although there are more professional ways to do this security check, just like Dreamstime, after requesting a payout from them, they send a confirmation message to the registered email address.

I found a another related post. https://www.microstockgroup.com/depositphotos/payout-request-in-mail-asking-for-id/ You can send a blurry version.

But I really can't believe they are asking users to send their details to a personal email address  [email protected];D

I think [email protected]/ [email protected]; will be a better option lol

Well, for sure you need to be wary of Tories!

I don't think you should be having to be forced to send it in, period.

But - with deposit photos - I have noticed they do *not* keep the info secure.

When I sent them some info - some guy "replied" to me with a link to my ID on an ONLINE IMAGE site that he "stamped" with "depositphotos" to "confirm" it. So they do NOT keep it secure.

Hey guys, thank you all. I was unsure if the email was sent by Depositphotos or not so I sent an email to their support and they confirmed it.

everything is back to normal, and to be honest I have never had a problem with Depositphotos before and I am very satisfied with their service, professionalism, and support but It was a pretty stupid move, in my opinion.
