I got my first extended license sale this month, which earned me $35.
Yesterday they took the money back...  :-\

The stolen credit card story makes no sense. This keeps happening over and over again for many contributors. Apparently there is an epidemic of people stealing credit cards to buy expensive stock photo licenses for no reason...

It seems more like someone decided to demand a refund through their bank and the bank just gives it to them without any questions.

I believe that the problem is that credit card companies "reverse" the payment on stolen cards, leaving the agencies out of pocket, so they then "reverse" the commission.
Presumably, these images end up being pirated  on rip-off sites based in countries with little or no IP protection (heroturk, for example).  They are not being stolen for fun.

I understand that the payment was reversed by the credit card company, but it's hard to believe the stolen part.

Who steals a credit card and then buys an extended license for an unpopular stock file, when they can get the exact same AI/EPS files with a regular licence, which is many times cheaper? If they use the subscription option, then they could get tens of vector files for the same price.

It really just sounds like someone changed their minds and demanded a refund through their credit card company. I would expect thieves to have lot better ways to make money from stolen credit cards. I wouldn't expect them to benefit much from stealing unpopular stock photos and uploading them on some random website - the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
